Ps. Aaron Creasey
PASSAGE: John 2:1-12 ESV
John 2:1–12 (ESV)
1 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
2 Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples.
3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”
4 And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me?
My hour has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
6 Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.
7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.”
And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.”
So they took it.
9 When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom
10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine.
But you have kept the good wine until now.”
11 This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory.
And his disciples believed in him.
12 After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.

STORY
HUNGRY CATERPILLAR STORY
Brought this book
Thought we could have story time
Story of caterpillar that turns into a butterfly
Imagine my daughter being totally wrecked by the ending
Did not see that coming
That is so often how things work with God
You may not see immediate results
Our God is not an immediate God.
Our God is an eternal God.
EXAMPLE
Bamboo Trees Dormant for 3 years, then is 60 days, it grows to its full height
Years of feeding a personal devotion.
but when you keep eating, when you keep going, eventually there will be transformation.
We all have the desire to be something GREAT
Bet we don’t go through the process of change, we don’t see immediate results.
Our God is not an immediate God he is and ETERNAL God...
He is not worried about the temporal, he is focused on eternity
Its about time we do too.
It can be so easy to focus on the moment now, needs now, which are important because it effects our future.
But how do we deal with our here and now and see transformation for our future?
HOW WE TREAT TODAY, IMPACTS TOMORROW.
WHAT CAN I DO TODADY TO SEE TRANSFORMATION IN THE WORLD?
WHAT CAN I DO TODAY TO SEE TRANSFORMATION IN THE CHURCH?
WHAT CAN I DO TODAY TO SEE TRANSFORMATION IN OUR LIVES?
OBSERVATION - 3 POINTS
POINT ONE: GRAB YOUR TOWEL
I LOVE THAT JESUS USED SERVANTS TO DO THIS MIRACLE
Jesus INCLUDED THEM
The servants were ultimately used in this massive miracle
Which made them apart of the HUGE impact on the people that were around them, in the city that they were in.
JESUS called them to be apart of the IMPACT on the world around them.
MAKE IT PERSONAL
We are all called to make an impact on the World.
We are all called to be transformed
To transform the world around us.
THE WORLD NEEDS FIXING
YOU WERE NOT MADE TO FIX IT
YOU WERE MADE TO SERVE IT
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN FIXING AND SERVING
Fixing Vs.
Serving
So often I find myself running around with a wrench, trying to fix the problems rather than serve the fixer.
Notice this in relationships
THE SERVANTS COULD NOT MAKE WINE
I CANT MAKE WINE
I CANT FIX IT
If I was I would
Fill it with grapes, maybe some vinegar, some sugar, squash em a bit.
THE DIFFERENCE IN
FIXING
I am going to make the wine?
(I AM GOING TO BRING ABOUT THE CHANGE IN MY LIFE)
SERVING
How are you going to make the wine?
WHAT CAN I DO?
Do we ask this question?
I FIND SO OFTEN WE ARE SO BUSY TRYING TO FIX THAT WE FORGET TO ASK!?
We need to stop fixing the church and start serving Jesus.
The world doesn’t need us to FIX IT, it needs us to serve IT
Sometimes in the FIXING we have a good heart!
We see that maybe there is this thing lacking, there is this area of Church that needs this thing so I am going to do it.
WHICH IS GREAT…
BUT
WE CAN NOT FIX THE WORLD
JESUS CAN
(SAY, I AM NOT A FIXER - I AM A SERVANT)
BEST PART: WITH JESUS
You will see the fix (transformation)
You will be apart of the fix (transformation)
But you were never the one doing fixing.
LIKE BEING A SKA BAND DANCER
THE SERVANTS
They filled the water
They took the water
They presented the water
But they did not change the water
