because of that they were exiled to Babylon and Assyria

These people want to be blessed.. Who wouldn't
they want protection, good crops, strong children

don’t be like your ancestors
the ancestors, God sent prophets to warn them
to bring them back
to teach them how to receive Gods blessing
when we read Ezra, and Nehemiah we find some of the sin going on in the city
the rich were forcing the poor into slavery and high interest rates
the people were marrying with the people of the world
they were not obeying the Sabbath
the laws of God are for every generation to obey
Pay attention to me God says
I want to bless you I want to give you a good life
but its up to you
your ancestors lived in sin died in sin
the prophets warned of sin and died giving the warning
the offer of repentance was a brief period
and was not accepted
in the end the ancestors had to admit that God did what He said He would do
In the end there will be a judgement of sin
in Solomon’s final conclusion in
God’s judgement is coming
Noah was 120 years telling of judgement
God is longsuffering about judgement, but like in verse 6 it will overtake you
Zechariah is telling the people who lived through the punishment.

But there is a problem with the unrepentant
they are blinded by satan
no matter what punishment is given the total depravity of man will continue to do every thing against God

Man will not repent and turn to God on his own
in fact they killed Zechariah the one who was telling them God will help you if you just turn to Him

the blessings promised, and curses promised

so the Old Testament people could not on their own keep the law, live up to the blessings
always fell killed the prophets that were there to warn them
