We're not. I'll probably put 1/2. I got one scripture put up here, but the scripture we're going to read. I'm not going to put up here because we going to kind of go verse by verse in a couple of places. So turn right now. If you would is Ezekiel chapter 28.

Ezekiel chapter 28, that's over there in the prophets in the Old Testament. You have Isaiah and then you have Jeremiah and then you have Ezekiel. So if you'll turn to Zeke and then a little later on, we going to turn to Isaiah, 14, turn to Ezekiel 28. We are going to continue in our series on Angels God's Messengers. And and today our topic is going to be not something not a whole lot of people think about when they think of angels. And that is Satan himself, because Satan was an angel. And so we going to be looking at Ezekiel 28, and we're only going to have three points today. And I want I just want us to get a good idea. Of Satan, the origin of Saint or scripture that he his name is Lucifer.

And we're going to talk about that. So if someone was to ask you to question, what do you think is the opposite of Satan? What would you say? Who's the opposite of Satan? Why? I hear a lot of people say, well as God God the opposite of Satan. Well, Satan cannot be God's opposite because the Lord created Satan. If you want to put someone down as the opposite of Satan, I would put the Angel Michael who would be the opposite of Satan kind of interesting and how Satan has deceived us into believing. That he is God's equal. We think of this big more powerful on him. We have got here and we have Satan and many times. We put them on equal ground. But Satan is not God's opposite and he's definitely not God. Equal, but he is real. I hope you believe in a real devil Satan or demons or whatever. Sometimes a lot of things will start going wrong in your life. You will have trouble studying or you have trouble putting a message together. They may be a death in the family. There may be something in your job or vocation. It seems like a lot of times when you start thinking about and teaching and preaching on Central evil in 4:16. Start going wrong, be surprised this week. If you go home and some things go wrong because safe to know exactly what his deceptions and what his strategies are and he'll do everything he can. So that preachers and teachers will not even talk about say it. Matter fact, you probably go to most churches today and you'll never hear or demons, or things of that nature, because most preachers feel like, well, my congregation don't want to hear that. That we need to hear. And it's real. And someone asked Billy Sunday. They said you believe in so cause the Bible to Claire's at the be so, and to be quite honest with you. I have done business with him myself. And we quit all would probably be able to say that Vance. The late Vance, havner said, if the Devil Comes To Town in a body, you won't find him in a nightclub or gambling casino. He said, the world and the Flash will take care of those places. He says, where you'll find him. He said, it's behind the pulpit with a doctorate degree preaching, against the very thing that exists, which is Satan kind of foolish to underestimate the power or of the devil or to question his reality. In the Bible speak of the devil. Matter fact, seven books in the Old Testament talks about Satan and every writer of the New Testament refers to say, there's 29 references in the New Testament to Satan in 25 of them are spoken by Jesus. So, Jesus believed he knew Satan and he knew he was real and many of those passages Satan and his schemes are exposed. And so we want to understand them. But to understand, then we have to understand. Where did Satan come from. Anyway, I mean, how did he get here? And if someone wants to ask you today? Why how did Satan get here? What would you say? He was thrown out but who threw him out. God threw him out. He threw them out. But why did he throw him out? God create Satan. Why would God create something evil? I mean, why would he create a Satan to begin with a lot of people ask that question? Well, think about what the Bible said. When God created the Earth and everything in it. What did it say when he saw that everything was, what good? Well, evils not good. Satan is not good. If God created Satan, then he created evil. Well, what a lot of people don't understand is that God did create Satan, but he didn't create say Satan was he created him about his schemes and all and there's a passage. I want to show you what I'm going to put on the board today. Is 2nd Corinthians, Lucifer, the Fallen Angel. That's what we're going to talk about today, his beginning. And the reason for his fault. I want you to look at 2nd Corinthians 2:11. This is why we need to understand and study Satan lest Satan should take advantage of us for. We are not ignorant of his devices about Satan. Well, let's just break it down and I hope you you're in Ezekiel Chapter 3 of Lucifer and his downfall. The first one is Ezekiel 28, it tells us of the origin of Satan and then we'll turn the Isaiah 14 in a few moments and it describes his fall. So if you want to write down to two passages that speak of Satan's origin and his fall Just write in your Bible Ezekiel 28, Isaiah 14. Now Ezekiel is a book on judgement in chapters, 25 to 30 to its announcement of judgment on the city of Tyre. Now. I want you to look at it in chapter 28 in verse 1. The Bible says the word of the Lord came to me again, saying, son of man, say to the prince of Tyre. Well, that was the leader or say the king of Tyre. That's who he's talking about. But I want you to notice how something changed 11. Now. Look what the Bible says, in verse 11 more over the word of the Lord came to me saying, son of man, take up a lamentation. For the king of Tyre. So first, we are talking about the prince, who was like the leader. The the person. Who was leading, but here he says, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre. In other words, the true power that's behind the throne. That's who that's who the ruling power behind the person who is in charge. So, is Ezekiel is careful. The kind of point out that Satan is a created being and we need to understand this morning that he was created by God. He's not self-existent. He's not, he is limited and he is finite. And other words. There was a tiny. Angel is created, not born. Satan was not born. He was created personally and directly by God. But God did not create Satan as some Prince of evil as with all God's creation. Satan was a perfect created being one of the crowning achievements of what God created. Now, let's look at it right here. We're going to talk about his origin. First of all, I want you to see this and this is the first point that Satan and say to him, thus says the Lord got, you were the Seal of perfection. Speaking of Satan, he was the CEO of perfection to watch this. Full of wisdom is in the Garden of Eden for the first time. We know him in the Garden of Eden. He was a serpent. Here he was in the Garden of Eden. So verse 13 says and and look high at the scribes. It was your covering you were covered in every precious stone. Sorry. Topaz Diamond, bear, Onyx Jasper Sapphire, turquoise Emerald with gold, the workmanship of your timbrels and pipes was prepared for you on the day. You were created and he was created on the first day. He was the seal. It says of perfection. He was perfect in Beauty because no creature had been prepared to reflect the glory of God. Like Satan was or Lucifer what that he's called a serpent, but the word circuit means in the Bible. Do he compared here to Gold and Silver and topaz Diamond Jasper Sapphire. He was under the New Testament. Paul says that Satan can transform himself into an angel of Light. Why is that? Because he was an angel of Light when he was created. He was The Shining one. Now this first 13 holes kind of an interesting, the workmanship of your timbrels and pipes was prepared for you on the day. You were created. I was wondering what that meant and I found the comment by the white Pentecost. This is what he said. It was not necessary for Lucifer to learn to play a musical instrument. In order to praise God, if you please had a built-in pipe organ loser for the cause of his Beauty did what a musical instrument would do in the hands of a skilled musician. Lucifer didn't have to look for someone to play the wedgie. Lucifer was the doxology. But so Lucifer or Satan was created perfect. He was perfect. Well, not only that but noticed, not only his Perfection but notice his place where he was look at it here. In verse 14, what word of God? What was he doing there? Look at verse 14, you were the anointed what cherub who covers? Well, we already talked them. So Ezekiel gives us the idea here, where Lucifer was before the fall. He was in the Eden, the Garden of God. He was on Mountain of God. Verse 14 says you were on the Holy Mountain of God. You walk back and forth in the midst of fiery. Thought he was in the Garden of Eden. That was his place. Thirdly, look at his, the power that he had and we see that in Ezekiel 14. 2814 said, you were the anointed cherub, who covers? He was in this exalted position at the time of creation. He was the one of the chairs who could look upon God and give him glory invoice, praise and thanksgiving straight to God. That's what the cherubs did. Was one of the highest orders of angels and it was over this class of Angels, the cherubs that Lucifer farty over. He was the main one who would look and praise God, his glory and give him. And we going to talk about more of this and Isaiah, but I want to briefly mention it here. I want you to look at his pride. And I want you to look at it in verses 15 to 18 5 Statewide, Lucifer rebelled, right, now. Look what it says in verse 15. Says, you were perfect. We already talked about his Perfection. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created. But look at this next, till an equity was found in you, then. Look what it says. It says Bobby abundance of your trade-in. You became filled with violence from within as few as a profane thing. Look at verse 17, your heart was lifted up because of what of your beauty so he was wondering if he was bright. He was The Shining one. He was God's ultimate creation. But because of his Beauty 7 verse 17, you corrupted, your wisdom, for the sake of your Splendor and then Ezekiel finally says to Lucifer in verse 18, you defiled your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities. So we see here the problem, the problem was pride and Isaiah is going to talk more about that in a moment. So we've seen his Perfection, his place if power is pride. But I want you to notice his in and that is his punishment in verses, 16 through 18. Look what he says in verse 16. About middle ways down. You became filled with violent for me and you seeing therefore I cast you out as a profane thing. And then he says out of the Mountain of God and I destroyed you old covering cherub from the myth of the fiery Stones. He said I destroyed you. I kicked you out of Eden and then look what it says in verse 17. He says, I cast you to the ground. I laid you before kings, that they may get you and then 18. Therefore, I brought fire from your midst, it devoured. You and I turned you to ashes upon the Earth in the sight of all who saw you. This is saying, this is Tom at Satan's in, we know how he's going to end. We know that he's going to that the Lord is going to come back and he's going to chain him up and after a thousand years he's going to be let loose and then the Lord She's going to cast him into the Lake of Fire. He and his demons. This is talkin about his in. So we see his profession. He was a perfect creation. We see his place. He was in the Garden of Eden. We see his power. He was the number one of the cherubs. We see his pride, his heart was lifted up because of his Beauty and we see the end result. He is punishment. Well, that's what Ezekiel get something. That is the origin of Satan. When I left look, At the fall of Satan. Exactly. What happened? Well, you're in Ezekiel, if you turn back to the left, you'll come to the Book of Jeremiah. If you turn one more book back, you'll come to the book of Isaiah for. Go to Isaiah chapter 14. Isaiah. Chapter 14. We're going to talk about point to the fall of Satan and we're going to talk about why he felt what was it that he wanted. He wanted something and we're going to see all this. Into versus.

From Isaiah. So, Isaiah kind of takes up the mantle here. They were five things that Satan wanted. That is shown by the statement and all these statements begin with, I will. So I want you to look at Isaiah chapter. 14, verses 12 through. Let's just start 12 12 through 14.

How you are falling from Heaven, o, Lucifer, son of the morning. Speaking of Satan? How are you cut down to the ground? You who weaken the Nations? Now watch verse 13. For you have said, in your heart. I will Ascend into heaven. I will exalt my Throne chinon, the father sides of the north. I will Ascend above the heights of the clouds. I will be like the most high right here. We see 5, I will statements. You know, when Jesus was on Earth in the Book of John, Jesus made what? They cost 7. I am statements. He said, I am the door. I am the bread of life. I am the resurrection and the life. I am the Good Shepherd. He had seven, I am statements. But what you're looking at here in 1, verse 2 versus these are Satan's. I will statements. God said, I am Satan said I will. So let's look, first of all, and what Satan is saying that he wanted number one. He wanted God's place and I want you to look at it in verse 13, for you have said, in your heart. I will Ascend into heaven. Lucifer wanted God's Place according to the Bible. There are three heavens. The heaven where the birds fly is the first Heaven. The second heaven is where the moon and the stars shine. And the third heaven is where God lives. Satan said I will Ascend into heaven. Lucifer lived in the second heaven and was no longer happy to visit. The third heaven, as a tourist. If you will, he wanted to live in a place that belong to God. The one who came into being by the word of God. Now, wanted to kick God off the throne, as though the throne was rightfully his, this is what he said. I will Ascend into heaven. So we see here, number one and follow what he wanted, God's place, but he wanted something else number to he wanted God's position. Look at it again and verse 13. He says I will exalt my throne. Above the stars of God. Now, we need to understand something here. This reference. The stars is not talking about the Stars. We see at night. This reference to Stars here is talking about all the other angels of God. Lucifer was never the commander-in-chief. All he was was a five-star general. But he was never commander-in-chief of all the Angels, but what Lucifer saying here? I'm not happy just being in charge of the charitable. I want more than that. I want sole authority over all the angels in the universe. I want to originate all the orders that are given to the angels and I want to eliminate God from the scene. This is what he saying. When he says, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I'll have my throne in heaven. So we see he wanted spice. He wanted God's position. And then something else he want. He wanted God's power and authority. Look at it here. What he says in verse 13 He says I will also see it. On the Mount of the congregation freshen that the Bible only gives to God the Mount of the congregation Lucifer saying, no. I want his power. I want to be in control of it. All I will sit for the king. Does he sits on the Mount of the congregation? So he wanted God's place his position and his power, but he wanted something else. We seeing verse 14, He wanted got verse 14th. I will Ascend above the heights of the clouds there in the Bible. And I look this up this past week, There's 150 references to clouds in over one hundred of them or references to the presence and glory of God. Lucifer was saying he was going to take to himself a greater glory than the glory that God have. And I just think about how foolish that statement was because he was The Shining one. It was only because of God, because God created him that way. But he was no longer happy to be a reflector of God's glory. He wanted to be the originator of Glory. You see, that's all we are on this Earth. You know, that we're just reflectors. We have no glory in and of ourselves, we are to reflect the glory of Jesus and our walk, in our life, in our relationship. That's what state must. He was just a rough, He was God highest creation, but he was a reflector of God's voice. But no, that was enough. He wanted to be the originator. He was no longer happy to be a reflector. So he wanted God's plan and lastly. He wanted God's privilege. Look at it. And verse 14 will be like The most. Satan wanted to be Lucifer, wanted to be only responsible to no one, but himself, the one who was created to glorify God. Salt to glorify himself through independence from God. When he said he wanted to be like, the most high. He was ruling out every other competitor. I want to be the best and what did Satan do? When he tempted, Jesus in the wilderness? What was one of the things he said? I'll give you this, if you will walk Fall Down and Worship me. He wanted to be number one. What was his problem? Why was Satan kicked out of heaven? Why did he fall one word? Pride? It was Pride. He wanted God's Place position, power Perfection. And he wanted God's privilege. He wanted to be in charge of it all. And no one and accountable to no one. So how did this happen? Let me ask you a question. Did God know when he created Satan. Did he know that Pride? Would Captivate the heart of Satan piss? How do you know it? Because he's omniscient that means he's all knowing. He knew that. Well, let me ask you this if he knew that. Could he have prevented that from happening happening? Yes, because God is omnipotent. He's all power. He could have prevented that. So here's the question was why didn't he if he knew what was going to happen and he knew that he could do something to fix it. Why didn't he fix it? Why didn't he fix it? So they would have never been evil in the world. I mean, how could a perfect, holy creation of God, fall like this. Think about that. Satan had no sinful world to lure him. He was in the Garden of Eden. It was perfect. He didn't have the world to lower him. Well, think about this. He didn't have another one like Satan took. What we do, Satan tempts us each and every day. He didn't have that. He didn't have the world like we have to to lure us to do what is wrong, when have any of that. And he didn't even have a sinful nature inside of him. He was absolutely perfect. So he didn't have the three things that we have. So, how in the world did he fall? Well, the answer lies in this fact, I believe. Because God created Satan and us in the exact same way. He created Satan with a Freewheel. He gave Satan the choice, the ability to choose between right and wrong. Just like, he had, he has us. You see, he was created with freedom to choose and because of God's sovereignty. He gave that not only to angels and people the choice to do, good or evil and he chose evil. That's why Well, that's his origin. And that's the fall and we see it from these two passages in the Old Testament. Now. I want to give you in closing. 3 truths, to remember you say, well we talked about how he was created and how he fell. How does this apply to my life? Let me give you three three truth to remember. He was the first one. Never underestimate. Always remember the power of Pride the power of pride in our lives. You see here's what Pride will do. Here's what Pride dead. Pride turned a perfect, angel into a devil. I did that you read nothing else. It was all about Pride. It turned a perfect God glorifying angel. One of God's highest creation into a devil. That's what Pride did. This is, what brought God curse upon him. You see the devil is the sworn enemy of humility. And when we are private, when Pride, eats away at our life, it makes us a friend of and it makes us look like Satan. That's what we look like. You see, seeing is to go your own way. Do your own thing and live as if God does not exist. I don't think there's a Temptation on this Earth that we face more frequently that confronts us. More persistently in entices us more subtly than the temptation of Pride. You say, well, I don't go around boasting. It's not that you don't have to go around boasting to be a proud person. You can be a proud person and be a quite humble person. You say, what, how is that? How can you be that way? Well, we could Jonah. You heard me say this a thousand times everyday, we wake up saved ourselves a my going to live for my kingdom his ass. Or am I going to live for God's kingdom? Jonah? Jonah, you go and preach the never know. I'm not going to do that. Jonah's living for Jonah's Kingdom. That is nothing more than Pride. That makes Jonah look exactly like Satan. And every time we decide to do what we want to do, and go our way and not serve God, and not serve others and just serve ourselves and make and just be by yourself and don't hurt anybody. Don't do anything wrong, anybody, but our whole kingdom is about our self that is nothing but pride and that's exactly what got Lucifer kicked out of heaven. That's what got him kicked out of heaven. Book of Proverbs says that they're seven things, the Lord hates in the very first one is a proud look, Seven things. The Lord hates a proud. Look. Is the very first. What do net, never underestimate. Always remember the power of Pride number to always remember this. Of sight. Do you know what happened? When Satan got kicked out of heaven with him? He tricked and deceived, a third of the angels that were kicked out of heaven as well. You see, he continues to carry out his agenda today against people. He want to destroy us. The Bible says that he walks around, like a roaring lion seeking, whom he may devour, and he wants to render you useless for the kingdom of God. His desire is to take as many people as he can with him to hell. Now, if you're here today, and you're not saved, Satan has you exactly where he wants. You, you say what? State never bothers me. He never text me or anything. He doesn't have to be already has you. So, you're not walking in a collision course with Satan. You're walking in collusion with Satan. If you're not safe, you're walking with it. If you're not safe, but if you are saved your Walking In One Direction and Satan is going in the other direction. And at some point you going to meet head-on because you're walking in collision with the devil. So if he wants to save, what is Satan trying to do in your life, he's trying to destroy your testimony. He's trying to the store you through deception. Still will destroy you through discouragement and depression. He'll make you. Look at life in a way. You just think life is not worth it. I'm just going to end it or you just throw up your hands and quit and say I can't stand that jerks in people down there. Don't like me. I'm not going to church anymore. He'll do anything. He can to help influence you to have no influence on Christianity, on your family. In your vocation or anyting is all, he'll let you go to church every single week. Sing in the choir, teach the Bible, do anything you want to as long as you have no influence for Christianity. He said yeah, go ahead. You can go to church attendance. Why? Cuz I didn't mean anything that mean if you're saved or not, if you're saved you'll probably go to church. But if you count on your salvation with all your your church membership, he has you exactly where he wants. You. He's trying to destroy your testimony and your influence for Christianity. If you're saved, if you're not saved, he has you exactly where he wants you, because you were going to spend eternity with him in his home. That's what he won't. Always remember the power of Pride and the purpose of Satan and his purpose is to take as many people to hell as he can't. Now I've already said that Satan has no equal with God and he's not the opposite of God, God's omnipotence. Satan is not God's omniscience. Say tonight. God is omnipresent at present everywhere, and Satan is not without the case. Why is he so effective? If he's not like God, if he's not omnipotent omniscient and omnipresent, why is Satan so effective? Because he was created the first day. Satan is Ageless. He hadn't aged not one bit. The he can match up against us who has unlimited knowledge. He has observed Believers since Creation in every conceivable situation, and he can predict exactly with accuracy, what we're going to do, and how we're going to handle it. That's how he is so affected, he wants to ruin your testimony. He wants you to live a laxidasical humdrum, unattractive, sloppy Christian Life. That's what he wants. Well, let's remember this the third one will close power Pride. Remember that purpose of Satan remember his purposes and then remember the pre-eminence of God Satan is not the opposite of God. Nor. Is he his equal? Satan is only free to do on this Earth, what God allows him to do. God has his chain in his hand. He will only allow Satan to do what he wants him to do. And one day, he's going to be cast into the bottomless pit for a thousand years. Then he's going to be thrown into the Lake of Fire. You see when Jesus Christ went to the cross. It came out of that gray Victorious on the third day. Satan was doomed. I want you to look at it like this, the day, that Christ arose from the grave. Satan was found guilty black. He has been found guilty, but it's the sentence we await for the for the sentence. To be given. That's what we're wait. He's already guilty. The verdict have come down. We just are waiting for God to apply the sentence and meanwhile, we can be victorious over him. How do we do it by the word of God? By watching and giving. No, Tremor. What is up house in the fishing? Don't give place to the devil. Don't give the devil a foothold in your life. And James says, resist the devil and he will flee from you. Read the word of God Be watchful and resist and he will flee from you. That is what the Bible says is the origin of Satan a perfect creation by God perfect. And that's what the Bible says is the fall of Satan. Why? Because of his pride. He wanted God's Place position, power Perfection and privilege and friends. We need to remember that and we need to understand how he works in our lives. Amen. All right, let's pray. Father. We thank you, and Well, we know that your whole creation was good that you didn't create evil at all. Heels and Men. The ability to choose between right and wrong. Lord, help us. Today as we seek to live for you. I pray for that one that's here today. Lord that

That's in collision with the devil in the same. The devil is winning that they may be discouraged. They may want to give up. They may feel unloved, Satan will do anything and he will try any ploy. To get us to give up on God. I pray for that one today who's in a low spot in their life. And for those who are serving you Lord. I pray that we will always serve you with Vigor with fervency. Lord will never allow Pride to enter into our life and think more highly of ourselves than we all for. We know if it's not for your grace and your mercy, we would not even exist. Lord help us to understand this teaching today and help us help us to apply to her heart. In Christ name. I do pray. Amen.
