Hope-full waiting is grounded on the conviction that God is at work – right here, right now – not in spite of circumstances that would make us anxious and afraid but in the midst of them. Hope-full waiting views the world through the lens of faith, not fear. Instead of focusing on signs which suggest that everything is headed in the wrong direction, hope-full waiting is vigilant for signs that God is in the process of fulfilling His promises to rescue His creation and restore it to its original goodness. Hope-full waiting is active, not passive: God is not just calling us to OBSERVE Him at work but to JOIN in His work. Thus, when we start seeing signs of hope, we start being signs of hope - following Jesus in ways that lead others to Him.
