Introduction
We have been looking at our core vision of this church, to know God, find freedom, discover your purpose and make a difference.
Today we will be looking at the third part of the series. discovering our purpose. Who wants to discover their purpose today?
We will break it down this way; what is a God given purpose? who has a pupose? and how we can get to a place in our lives of walking in our purpose? I can tell you now you will be a lot happier in life if you can walk in your purpose.
what is a God given purpose and who as a purpose?
I have felt over the years that God has more than just the ordinary life I have a feel, a hunger, a longing to know and find what God has in this life for me, because the bible tells ,me that God as a plan for me and he knows me. Jeremiah 29:11 says I know the plans I have for you.
I know I’m made for more than this.
If we are all honest with ourselves here today and have not discovered our God given purpose than we would all have some kind of a longing for more to discoverour purpose, our destiny and fulfilment. Because We all have a God given purpose and are all made uniquely by God.
A biblical basis for purpose
We see in the bible that God used ordinary people to do extraordinary things he used common people to do uncommon things discovering our purpose is living in Gods will and plan for our lives we see in the bible that God used a common man named peter to do an uncommon thing like walking on water
He used a man named Paul to preach to the gentiles so God could open the door bring salvation to all the nation on earth he used him to build the early churches.
If we want to take a closer look at Paul as an example we know that Paul knew of God and was a highly religious man but it was not personal. Paul did not know God and he Did not know Gods purpose for his life. As a result he was without restraint killing people in the name of God but it was not ordained by God at all The word know in Greek is ginowsko which is to know personally intimately relationally. Paul has an encounter with Jesus and came to know him personally and then goes off to Arabia where he has a radical encounter with God and finds freedom from his horrendous past. God the sets him on his purpose as an apostle to the gentiles and when he finds his purpose God is able to do amazing things through him in the face of many obstacles.
The amazing thing about this story is it corilats with the vision of our church he had to know God first then he found freedom from this sins of the past he discovered his purpose then made a huge difrence in the world for generations.
Its not only men that are called but women are also called and have a purpose.
God called Mary to carry Jesus, birth Jesus and raise Jesus. She was called to raise a son in order to bring salvation to the world. We see she knew God found freedom and lived out her purpose.
( Can we just give God praise right now for his wonderful plans and purpose throughout history)
just an ordinary women doing and extraordinary things. A woman made for more than she could ever believe. Mary was called to be a mother and there are some women in this church that are called to be mothers.
Paul, Abraham and peter were a men made for more than they could ever believe and all had a unique design.
They had a God given purpose they discovered that purpose and lived joyfully in that purpose. Let me tell you there are men in this room that are called to be evangelists called to be businessmen called to be more than they could imagine God as a plan a purpose there is uncommon men called to uncommon things in this church.( I know a man in this church that can fly I mean that is extrodanery)

EVERYBODY as in their homes manufactured products. Appliances such as a toaster fridge freezer ,oven, microwave, or a tin opener.
They are designed differently.
They have different parts that make them operate.
Each one has its own unique reason for being and functions.
Now, if that appliance operates outside of its reason for being there, we have a problem. If you want to cook things in the refrigerator and freeze things in the oven, you are going to have a difficult situation in the home because that’s not what the workmanship is for. The workmanship is used for whatever the creator designed it to do. The toaster does not tell the creator what it’s going to do today. The stove does not tell the creator what it’s going to do today. It is the creator that dictates to the appliance the reason why the appliance exists. The appliance does whatever it’s been designed to do.
In the same way, we are God’s creation and He dictates to us why we exist and can tell us what we are designed to do. He gives us our purpose. If we operate outside of our reason for being, that’s when we experience problems. Walking in the purpose God designed for us is how we fulfill our unique reason for being.
WHO has a purpose
Its not only ministers, evangelists, prophets and pastors and teachers of the church that are called. This as been widely viewed in the church over the years but it comes from the wrong interpretation of Ephesians 5 yes some are called to different positions, but the ones that are called to the office of the church are gifted to empower everyone in the church to discover there purpose and let the body of Christ be built up to its final maturity. So that means that every one in this church has a purpose given by God to walk in.
when we look at what God says in the scripture on this subject we find that we all have a call a purpose God has a plan for your life and we need to walk in that plan and discover the purpose God as made us more.
you are called for more you are called to be more than ordinary more than a job more than a Pastore more than a teacher more than you are called to colonize heaven with earth
A biblical basis for you are called
-How Can we discover our purpose
Proverbs 29: 18-
We need to seek revelation from God in his word we need a clear seeking in his word
.
· Secondly we must go to God in prayer because God know you better than you know yourself. ( Biblical examples 1-2)
Jerimiear 29 11 God knows you better than you know yourself so go to God in deep prayer. Also the bible says that God formed and made you so he knows you.
The bible never said to preach without ceasing or prophecy without ceasing it says to pray without out ceasing.
The disciples never asked how to preach they asked how to pray so we need to seek God about ourselves because God know you better than you know your self

EXAMPLE OF THE PERSONAL GOALS AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH UNIT.
In this unit we had to pray on the topic of seeking God on what we are called to 15 minuts a day everday for 8 weeks and we all discovered our calling and purpose
· Second think about what you are extremely passionate about what dreams and passions has God laid on your heart.
· God as birthed dreams in you he birthed passions in you and he as given us his word and Spirit to guild and lead us into the purpose he as for all of us. If we are not following dreams passions and purpose than something will feel wrong and you will be miserable
-God will mostly reveal one step at a time.
God knows you need is help and direction in finding your purposes.
he gave you prayer to help
and he has gave you his Spirit to help.
And he has given us the church to help.
Often elders in the church will identify the God given purpose in a persons life.
