Man Church 11/23/21– 2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Habakkuk 2:1-5 / Romans 1:17
The Just Shall Live By Faith – in regard to words that begin with the letter “V”.
· Victory– 1 Corinthians 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
o A conquest, to win a battle
o 1 John 5:4 this is the victory…
· Virginity– 2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
o Usually associated with women having no carnal knowledge of man
o Can also be know as keeping oneself pure in regard to sexual relations
o It should be kept and protected until it can be given to the wife of our youth
· Violence– Matthew 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
o Physical force – Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. Revelation 18:21.
o Moral force – how people attack the Gospel message
o Outrage
o Matthew 5:11-12
· Virtue– 2 Peter 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
o Moral goodness
o Bravery / valor
o Strength – Mark 5:30
· Vision– Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
o A revelation from God
o Something imagined to be seen
· Vigilance– 1 Timothy 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
o Forbearance of sleep
o Guard; watch
· Verity– Psalm 111:7 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure.
o Truth
o A true assertion
o Moral truth
· Vesture– Gen 41:42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; No longer viewed as a Hebrew.
o A Garment
o What we wear matters on some level.
o The Vesture we wear is the righteousness of God - 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
