Encountering God will Change Your Life
The Shepherds wife saw what happens when a person is filled with the joy of the Lord.
We seek a touch of the divine.
We want to know God is here and we want to experience his Joy!
Let’s look at the passage in the Gospel of Luke that recounts the events out in that field near Bethlehem.
Read:
When Angels Appear
You know it’s not a normal day when Angels show up.
Remember Zechariah
Remember Mary
Look again at the Shepherds:
When God begins a work he pushes us out of the normal.
Sin tries to drag us back to our comfort and helps us regain a sense of control over our world.
Are you looking for those moments where God will push you out of the normal?
Look for the divine.
When a Divine Call is Given
The message of the Angel’s was clear.
The Messiah had come.
What was left for the Shepherds to do?
By faith, the Shepherds acted.
In obedience they went to determine the truth by traveling to Bethlehem.
How do you respond when God opens your heart and mind to His truth?
Do you believe and act, or question and grow complaisant?
Our goal is to
Believe and Obey
When the Things of God are Treasured and Celebrated
The Truth of God is to be Treasured.
Mary responded in faith knowing that these things confirmed the importance of Jesus birth.
It built her faith and anchored her in the undeniable truth that the Savior had been born and she held him in her arms.
What greater encouragement could she have recieved?
The Truth of God should move us to worship.
These humble men who were given such a great gift became the first witnesses of the birth of the Savior.
Joy Comes when we seek God, trust and obey God, and rejoice in God!
For us, the Savior has not only come but he has finished his work.
Our experience of the divine is not through angels but the Holy Spirit and the Word of Truth, the Bible.
Our call did not come from Angel’s but from Christ himself.
Do we have the same zeal that the shepherds showed?
