The Harvest of Grain (15–16)—And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. (remember this verse)
[16] And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
These verses paint a picture of the earth as a field ready for harvest, the grain of the earth. The fullness of time has come and Jesus begins to reap the harvest.
Jesus spoke of this often in the gospels. There will come a day when He will thrust His sickle into the fields of the earth and separate the wheat from the tares. Mat. 13:30—Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
While growing together there is little difference, but when they are ripe the difference is clear. The tare is filled with little black seeds, that cause nausea and even death, and stands upright.
The wheat bows toward the ground under the load of its bounty. What a picture of the world and the redeemed.
Many appear to be Christians, but are filled with deadly sin, standing proudly in defiance to God.
The question is: Are you Wheat or a Tare?
Before we leave Revelation 14:15 let's consider the phrase "for the harvest of the earth is ripe”
This is a different word from the one used in verse 18, Where we begin this morning, (This verse means “being mature, ready to harvest.”
Verse 15 means “to be dry, having become withered.” The idea is “a harvest that is over-ripe.”
This reveals the longsuffering, mercy and grace of God. The fields have been ripe, ready for harvest, but the Lord has delayed His judgment.
The title of our teaching this morning is:

Revelation 14:18 (NKJV)
18 And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe.”
Who said Yet another angel will come forth—this time from the altar in the heavenly temple.
We read about this altar before in Revelation 8:3. It is where the Tribulation Saints call upon God to avenge their blood.
Now this angel will urge the angel with the sharp sickle (the angel in v. 5) to gather the clusters of grapes from the earth’s vine, because its grapes are ripe.
Since Jesus is the True Vine*, it is likely that the earth’s vine is a reference to the Antichrist.
The clusters of grapes will be the fruit of the earth’s vine or those nations that follow the Antichrist. This indicates two things:
(1) God will eventually answer the prayers of the Tribulation Saints who cried out for revenge, and
(2) the wickedness of the earth will be great. God does not always answer prayers right away, but he will not let them go unanswered forever.
Neither will he let wicked nations or individuals deny him forever.

(B. The Harvest of Grapes (17–19))
Satan and Antichrist have dominated the world, but their reign is about to end as the Lord crushes the world system and the wickedness that it promotes.

19 So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
The fifth angel will use his great sickle to gather the wicked nations of the earth. He will then cast them into the winepress of God’s wrath.
This is a symbol to help us understand what is going to happen.
When farmers go into their vineyards to harvest the grapes, they cast them into the winepress and squeeze the juice out of them.
In this process the grapes are practically destroyed. The same thing will happen to the wicked
when this angel harvests the earth. They will be like a grape being squashed in a winepress.
Two reasons why many believe the Church will be raptured
before the Tribulation Period are that Jesus will rescue us from the wrath to come*,
and that God did not appoint us to wrath*.
J. R. Church - I believe that Christians will not be forced to endure the wrath of God’s judgment. We will be raptured to meet our Lord in the air at some point prior to the beginning of that dreadful time.

This is a reference to the Battle of Armageddon.
The ripe grapes (wicked nations) will be trampled in the winepress of God’s wrath*.
People will be crushed by the fine brass* feet of Jesus like small grapes under the weight of a large man.
Since the blood will rise as high as the horses’ bridles for approximately 200 miles,
we know that millions will die. Before it happens, though, God will preach the gospel through the 144,000 Jews, the two witnesses, and his angel
(the first angel of chapter 14). He will also send an angel (the third angel of chapter 14) to warn those who follow the Antichrist.
He will give the world many chances to repent before he destroys it.
Muslims believe in the Battle of Armageddon, but they call it the mother of All Battles.
The name comes from the Koran which, among other things, is a twisted version of the Bible.
It teaches that Allah will help Islam win this great battle. This is partly why religious fanatics are pushing the War on Terrorism.
Some misguided Islamic militants actually believe they can trigger the Battle of Armageddon and win.
It’s doubtful that many, if any, will survive long enough to be involved,
but if they do, they will get the great war they want,
but the awful outcome will be more terrifying than anything they could have imagined.
Hal Lindsey - Apparently this whole valley of Megiddo, or Armageddon, will be filled with war materials, animals, bodies of men, and blood.
Megiddo—Modern-day map showing location of the city of Megiddo. It has become a symbol for the final battle of good and evil because Armageddon translated is “Mount of Megiddo.”

Lord I believe that Jesus is the son of God, and that He died On the cross for my sins and His resurrection from the dead gives me eternal life. I ask forgiveness of my sins, and I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
