Matthew 2:11
Matthew 2:11 NKJV
11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Every person can also give to Jesus what He desires by giving to Him the following gifts:

1. My “Gold”

Acknowledging Him as My King

Matthew 6:33
Matthew 6:33 NKJV
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Colossians 3:15
Colossians 3:15 NKJV
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Why wouldn’t people do this?

They want to be their own kings
That way, they can chase their own desires
Their own search for identity, value, and worth
They don’t trust Jesus to be a good King
Part of that comes from a lack of trust in themselves
Once someone detaches from God, they are left to the elements of a fallen, broken world

2. My “Frankincense”

Acknowledging Him as My High Priest

My “Middle Man”
Setting up the connection between the Father and Me
John 14:6
John 14:6 NKJV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
How do I do it?
Begin by “coming to the Father”
Worship-based prayer
Prayer that begins in Scripture
Prayer that lets God through the Scripture dictate the discussion

3. My “Myrrh”

Acknowledging the work He did for me out of His love for me

I obey what I know He has instructed me to do
John 14:21
John 14:21 NKJV
21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
I face whatever comes as a result of my obedience
Which may involve pain
Because Jesus took the pain that came from my sin
He became my “Myrrh”
And He’s still my Myrrh

Now What?

Jesus left His throne in Heaven to become a Man

So He could become the Myrrh for the pain of our sin
So He could be the Man in the Middle between humanity and God
So He could take His rightful place as King of the creation that He will restore and make new
