Zechariah's Night Visions
His 1st vision is God’s great love for Jerusalem and its people
next vision is of the 4 horns/ world empires who are oppressing the People
with the 4 Horns will be the 4 De-horners
with the last craftsman who is the stone who crushes these world empires
the 3rd vision was the millennial Kingdom with Jesus as the king of the world
we now come to the 4th vision
with the High Priest, Joshua, who represents the people

Joshua, The High Priest
Joshua is the High Priest at the time of Zechariah
And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of Yahweh; and Satan was standing on his right to accuse him.

When the high Priest comes into the Holy of Holies to represent the people
he is thoroughly clean
So Moses brought Aaron and his sons near, and he washed them with water. Then he put the tunic on him and tied the sash around him; then he clothed him with the robe and put the ephod on him; then he tied the ephod’s waistband around him and fastened the ephod to him with it. Then he placed the breastpiece on him and put the Urim and the Thummim into the breastpiece; and he placed the turban on his head, and on the front of the turban he placed the gold rosette, the holy diadem, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
even with all of this preparation the accuser is there to point out the sin
with all of our good works when we stand before the Judge what will He see?
What did God see in Joshua the High Priest
And Joshua was clothed in filthy garments and was standing before the angel.
these filthy garments are manure stained
The High Priest standing before God in barn clothes
Isaiah speaks of the righteous deeds as
And we all have become like the unclean, and all our deeds of justice like a menstrual cloth, And we all wither like a leaf, and our iniquities take us away like the wind.
satan the accuser/ the prosecuting attorney is the bringing accusations against Joshua
satan is not wrong in the accusations
no matter how clean he is
no matter how righteous, it’s not good enough

we are never good enough
no ever chooses God
just as it is written, “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.
And you, although you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all formerly lived in the desires of our flesh, doing the will of the flesh and of the mind, and we were children of wrath by nature, as also the rest of them were.
so getting back to Joshua up in verse 2
But Yahweh said to Satan, “Yahweh rebukes you, O Satan! Yahweh who has chosen Jerusalem rebukes you! Is this not a stick snatched from the fire?”
as the High priest he represents all of Israel
a stick snatched from hell
a person who is dead and brought back to life
God chose Israel
God chose the bride of Christ
But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, and we being dead in trespasses, he made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved), and raised us together and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, in order that he might show in the coming ages the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness upon us in Christ Jesus.
He was snatched from the fire
and given a new robe

And Joshua was clothed in filthy garments and was standing before the angel. And he answered and said to the ones standing before him, saying, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” And he said to him, “See, I have taken away your guilt from you, and will clothe you with rich garments.”
the old clothes representing how good Joshua is
the dirty clothes representing his righteousness
have been removed by God
and has been clothed with spotless garments
all of the guilt has been taken away
not by the blood of sheep
but the blood of the Savior
Behold the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world
And I said, “Let them put a clean headband on his head.” And they put a clean headband on his head, and they clothed him with garments. And the angel of Yahweh was standing by.
a new turban representing Righteousness to God
he saved us, not by deeds of righteousness that we have done, but because of his mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
I will rejoice greatly in Yahweh; my being shall shout in exultation in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns himself with a head wrap like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewelry.

only after the guilt is taken away
after the new clothes are put on us. we are given

And the angel of Yahweh assured Joshua, saying,
Joshua is standing before God
he is now wearing God given new clothes
God gives them a new assignment
the new assignment is is only after
the works of righteousness are given to us to advance the Kingdom
For we are his creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, so that we may walk in them.
Let us rejoice and be glad and give him the glory, because the wedding celebration of the Lamb has come, and his bride has prepared herself. And it has been granted to her that she be dressed in bright, clean fine linen (for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints).
to Joshua — the representative of the people
“Thus says Yahweh of hosts: ‘If you will walk in my ways, and if you will keep my requirements, then you will judge my house, and you will also guard my courtyards, and I will give to you passageways among these that are standing here.
but in his own power this is impossible
his own righteous garments-- were manure covered
but if the person is made new, with a new heart
with a new mind, unable to sin
new desires to please God.
remember this a vision of the future Millennial Kingdom
in this vision Joshua is representing all of the people
Listen, please, O Joshua the high priest, you and your companions that are sitting before you. For the men are a sign that, look, I am going to bring my servant the Branch.
My servant the Branch
without the life changing, forgiveness given, blood of Jesus none of this can happen
Today the people of Israel is still rejecting their Messiah
Jesus came to bring the Kingdom and the King was murdered
there is a a remnant of believing Jews. but as a nation as a whole they are still very lost
but a the end of the time of Jacobs trouble

For consider, the stone that I set before Joshua, on one stone are seven eyes. Look, I am going to engrave an inscription on it,’ declares Yahweh of hosts, ‘and I will remove the guilt of that land in a single day.
remove all of the guilt
“ ‘I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication, and they will look to me whom they pierced, and they shall mourn over him, as one wails over an only child, and they will grieve bitterly over him as one grieves bitterly over a firstborn.
For I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, of this mystery, so that you will not be wise in your own sight, that a partial hardening has happened to Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, and so all Israel will be saved, just as it is written, “The deliverer will come out of Zion; he will turn away ungodliness from Jacob. And this is the covenant from me with them when I take away their sins.”

“And Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your inner self so that you may live. And Yahweh your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, on those who harassed you. And you will again listen to the voice of Yahweh, and you will do all his commandments that I am commanding you today.
at that time there will be peace in Jerusalem
On that day,’ declares Yahweh of hosts, ‘you will invite one another under the vine and under the fig tree.’ ”

By grace we see Joshua cleansed’ all of his sins are forgiven
by grace we see robes of righteousness put on Joshua
Joshua represents all of the Jews at the beginning of the Millennial kingdom
in one day we see all of Israel forgiven
in one day they will receive a new life, body, and mind
we the bride of Christ
by Gods grace were chosen
were given a new life
one day we will receive a new body, and mind
its only by Gods grace do we receive anything good from him
