What makes a good mystery? An exotic or gritty setting. A main character, a detective, out to solve a some problem, a mystery. It has suspects, clues, suspense, and, eventually, a revealed solution.
Mystery of Christ (the gospel) revealed to the Gentiles. God revealed to the apostles and prophets long ago in Israel’s ancient history that all of humanity would be given the opportunity of renewal and redemption. Through the body of Christ (the Church) God’s grace would be extended to all people. It is through the name of Jesus Christ that all can approach the throne of God.

Matthew 2:1-12

Who were the Magi? The Scriptures tell us that they were from Anatolia (Asia Minor) and that they followed a star. They were most likely ancient astrologers. They followed this celestial clue. It’s a clue given by Isaiah for all nations to find the light of God.
