Recognize that all relational conflicts impact the church at large (1-3)

We do not live in private. Our call to do whats right should not be considered a private enterprise.
Although we should do nothing to “please men” we do function corporately before other believers

Involved Encouragement (4-7)

A pre-crisis pattern of prayerful intercession along with a working knowledge of the participants genuine fruit by which to encourage them of their ability to continue bearing fruit.

Boldness to Command (8a)

A minister must have the boldness to command. Even if it is someone that he depends on for financial support.
However, a command from the pastor does not produce the brotherly love sought after.

Appeal through (agency) love

Remind of God’s Sovereign purposes

Things to say somewhere-
Onesimus must have been compelled to return, but Paul offered him actual protection by vouching to repay his debts ( 18)
