Turn your Bibles to John 8:31-32
John 8:31–32 (KJV 1900)
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
There is a longing deep in the human soul to be FREE- The title of this message is “Free at Last”
Last night I took some time to reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “ I Have a Dream speech.” The last words of the speech stood out to me and echoed in my soul. “ Free at Last, Free at Last, thank God Almighty I am free at last.
Many people have paid the price for the civil and social freedom we enjoy today; the true freedom that Christ is referring to in John chapter 8 was paid with the blood of Jesus
True freedom will help us overcome a life of mediocrity, complacency, vanity, and boredom.
True freedom helps to overcome ungodly addictions and the pressures of life.
True freedom helps our hearts to be humble and obedient to God’s Word.
True freedom results in a fruitful and productive life full of purpose and meaning the is full of God’s Word and Spirit.
True freedom is a life where you represent God’s Kingdom and add value to others by serving.
To experience true freedom; We must know the heart, mindset, purpose, and missions of our Jesus (all God - all man) and of Satan ( our adversary, enemy).
True freedom in Christ gives life and life more abundantly. The book John shows the true purpose of our and our Savior. John 10:10
John 10:10 KJV 1900
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
The bondage, yokes, and shackles of sinful nature must be buried and the freedom of our born-again spirit must be nurtured, feed, cherished, and defended.
On August 1, 1938, freed Jamaican slaves celebrated putting their shackles, handcuffs, chains, and iron collars in a coffin and burying them.
Likewise, believers in Christ must bury the old self, the old marriage covenant we had with the bondage of sin.
What did Jesus come to free us from? Turn to Luke 4:18-19
Luke 4:18–19 (KJV 1900)
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Preach the good news to the poor- Matt 5:3
Matthew 5:3 KJV 1900
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
2 Corinthians 8:9 KJV 1900
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
Philippians 4:19 KJV 1900
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Heal the Brokenhearted- Psalm 51:17
Psalm 51:17 KJV 1900
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Psalm 34:18 KJV 1900
The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; And saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Preach Deliverance to Captives Psalm 34:17

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress:
My God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,
And from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers,
And under his wings shalt thou trust:
His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night;
Nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness;
Nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side,
And ten thousand at thy right hand;
But it shall not come nigh thee.
Recovering of Sight to Blind
Isaiah 35:5 KJV 1900
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
