Before I give you the prayer point for these week.
I would like to first take the time to bring you to remembrence why prayer in important.
The Scripture exhorts us to pray in many ways
Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV)
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints
Colossians 4:2 (NKJV)
2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;
1 Timothy 2:8 (NKJV)
8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;
Pray everywhere
Luke 18:1 (NKJV)
1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,
Jesus Teaches and admonishes all men should always pray and should not give up.
1 Thessalonians 5:17–18 (NKJV)
17 pray without ceasing,
18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
It is is the will of God that we regualry pray. or else we are not in the will of God.
Having all these witnesses of Scripture we must pray. Because prayer is foundational to our spirtual life.
Acts 2:42 (NKJV)
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
The early church continued in prayer as well as the apostle’s doctrine and fellowship.
The general imoprtance of prayer.
It is through prayer that we know God and he knows us. we forge a relationship with God and he with us
Knowing about the prime minister and knowing him is different.
You can know about God through the reading of the Word but you can only know him through prayer. You have to spend time and talk with him.
If your relationship with is more crucial to you than your human relationship you will be spending more time getting to know him through prayer.
How many of you spend regular time talking to people who are dear to you each week.
How many of you at minimum spend that amount of time at minimum in prayer.
Brethren, the Lord is always waiting for you, to get to know him in prayer. or else he will speak to you at end and say “Depart from me, i never knew you, you worker of iniquity”
To some Jesus is like a long lost freind that they lost contact with.
Luke 21:34–36 NKJV
34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Don’t let the day of the Lord come a snare to you because you have neglected what is crucial for the salvation of your soul, prayer.
The point is: you have to pray to save your soul.
For only through the forging of relationship with the creator of your soul in prayer, that you make your election sure and secure the salvation of your soul.
Prayer point
Ephesians 5:14 NKJV
14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”
Joel 3:9 NKJV
9 Proclaim this among the nations: “Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, Let all the men of war draw near, Let them come up.
There is a war coming brethren a spiritual war , we must be awaken and alert
How does one know he is a sleep.
When a person is sleeping he is clueless to what is taking place or being done in his surrounding.
a believer who is a sleep is indeferent to the spiritual condition of his surrounding.
He is or incognizant (or unware) of what is going around him spiritually.
He is blind to the spiritual condition of the people around him, and the environment in which he lives in
Acts 17:16–17 NKJV
16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols. 17 Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there.
The jews and gentile worhipers haved liven in athens for quite sometimes.
They had succumbed to the spiritual of slumber that was operating in that city. As a result they were not cognizant (aware) how the city had decline spiritually to the point that it was wholy given to idolatory.
The Apostle Paul was awake, he was aware of the spiritual condition of the city of athens, or the people of Athens. This spiritual awareness did not allow him to sit idly by as the city went down the slippery slope of death.
He began not only to reason with the jews and gentile worshiper but also the regular people in the marketplace.
He would pray for them and witness to them
How many of you having been aware of the spiritual condition of your co-worker or someone you know who is in the world, have been led to call ou their name and interceed in their behalf in the presence of God. Have you taken the time to witness to them.
Or are you so indeferent to their spitual plight that you just shrug it off and go on about your everyday life.
Are you aware of the spiritual condition of your city, have you interceeded and wept and prayed for mercy seeing the abomination being commited in that city and in this nation.
This concerns your soul.
Ezekiel 9:1–11 NKJV
1 Then He called out in my hearing with a loud voice, saying, “Let those who have charge over the city draw near, each with a deadly weapon in his hand.” 2 And suddenly six men came from the direction of the upper gate, which faces north, each with his battle-ax in his hand. One man among them was clothed with linen and had a writer’s inkhorn at his side. They went in and stood beside the bronze altar. 3 Now the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub, where it had been, to the threshold of the temple. And He called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer’s inkhorn at his side; 4 and the Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.” 5 To the others He said in my hearing, “Go after him through the city and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity. 6 Utterly slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the temple. 7 Then He said to them, “Defile the temple, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!” And they went out and killed in the city. 8 So it was, that while they were killing them, I was left alone; and I fell on my face and cried out, and said, “Ah, Lord God! Will You destroy all the remnant of Israel in pouring out Your fury on Jerusalem?” 9 Then He said to me, “The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity; for they say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see!’ 10 And as for Me also, My eye will neither spare, nor will I have pity, but I will recompense their deeds on their own head.” 11 Just then, the man clothed with linen, who had the inkhorn at his side, reported back and said, “I have done as You commanded me.”
Those who were spiritually awake the the spiritual condition of the city, and wept nd sighed and interceeded seeing all the abomination that was being done secured their soul. Those who were spiritually asleep and were ignorant of the spiritual condition of their environment lost their lives with the wicked in judgement of God.
Pray
let there be an awaking of the People of God
pray that God may open your eyes to spiritual plight of your city, of your co-worker, of your friend who is in the world. that you may interceed for him and weep fo the salvation of his soul.
