1 Samuel 16:7 ESV

Identity is not from physical strength or appearance
God looks at the heart
1 Samuel 16:11 ESV

Who you receive counsel from matters
Looking for counsel from others that don’t believe in God’s calling will not help
1 Samuel 17:26 ESV
And David said to the men who stood by him, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
The fear of the Israelite Army was strange to David because he know Who held true authority
1 Samuel 17:28 ESV
Now Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spoke to the men. And Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, “Why have you come down? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your presumption and the evil of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.”
Identity Questioned #2- David’s own brother
1 Samuel 17:33 ESV
And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him, for you are but a youth, and he has been a man of war from his youth.”
Identity Questioned #3- Questioned by Leaders
1 Samuel 17:36 ESV
Your servant has struck down both lions and bears, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God.”
Goliath was a professional warrior

1 Samuel 17:43 ESV
And the Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
Identity Questioned #4- David questioned by his enemy

Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,
David Stood in his identity and calling knowing that God was fighting for him
Closing:
End of Story with Goliath
Like we talked about last week, Saul tried to give David his armor but you can’t wear someone else’s history, calling or intimacy with God
God has a unique calling for your life that you can step into
There were older, wiser people than Mary and John that God could have used but God is looking for people even in their young age to step out into His Calling for their life
Are you ready to step into your own armor with God. Your own relationship, calling, history, intimacy with God?
