This Week’s Theme: Growing in God’s Prestige
Memory Verse: Psalms 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.”
This Week’s Word is Glory: God's glory is the display of His greatness, goodness, and beauty so that persons are aware of Him through sensory experiences
Essence of the Text in a Sentence: David realized the awesomeness and righteousness of God
Sermon Objective: I want those listening to respond to the awesomeness and righteousness of God
Sermon Text: Psalm 19
Psalm 19 NKJV
The Perfect Revelation of the Lord To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race. Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

Big Idea of the Text: As followers of Christ, we should reverence and obey because He is awesome and righteous

I. KNOW YOUR ROLE

Exposition (What does that mean? Explain it): Hear the confession of Joseph! After being presented before the king as a someone who could interpret his dream, Joseph did not allow the gravity of this situation to overtake his rational thinking.

YOU SHOULD BE READY AND WILLING TO TESTIFY ABOUT THE GOD YOU SERVE!

Are you guilty of not fulfilling your role as a worshipper?
What are the things (people, circumstances, or situations) that hinder you from testifying about God?
What needs to happen in your life so you will willingly testify about God?

II. YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO KNOW THE BOOK (BIBLE)

Exposition (What does that mean? Explain it): Hear the confession of Joseph! After being presented before the king as a someone who could interpret his dream, Joseph did not allow the gravity of this situation to overtake his rational thinking.

REALIZE THAT YOU HAVE BLIND SPOTS.

WE BENEFIT BY FOLLOWING GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS

Where are the blind spots in your life?
Name the people who reveal the blind spots you have.
What changes will you make to be obedient to God?

III. GIVE REVERENCE TO GOD

Exposition (What does that mean? Explain it): Hear the confession of Joseph! After being presented before the king as a someone who could interpret his dream, Joseph did not allow the gravity of this situation to overtake his rational thinking.

YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO GIVE REVERENCE TO GOD

Are you being obedient in this area of your life?
How have you responded in the past to God?
How will you respond differently now in light of what God’s Word says?
Give practical steps you will take now So you will respond biblically in the future.
What will you do differently today so that others will hear and see that you are reverencing and obeying God through Christ?
