Anyone who was a 80’s child and older knows this song made popular by Tina Turner
But if you think of the title we are talking about, Love has everything to do with it.
1 John 4:16-19 - 16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us.
God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.
For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
19 We love because he first loved us.
So lets start off by saying this, to the skeptics, Love is something engraved in our human nature (pyschologytoday), that was there before we knew what love was.
How?
Because we are all created in the image of God (Gen 1:27)
So therefore if anyone who has love, knows who God is, because love is abides in God, therefore God abides in those who have love from basic nature of life.
Don’t tell an Athiest, Agnostic, or anyone who believes in a ISM…they will be shocked there is no scientific proof against this
why is love so important?
How are different ways we use love in our every day lives?
when we love something or someone, we create like this level of love judgement, its true!
Think about it, when you love someone, no one compares to that person, we overlook things, we overlook faults, we have an easyness to forgive, we are willing to sacrifice.
when we love something, everything is compared to it, nothing will ever reach the highs of that thing you love, again we overlook faults and imperfections, because we take what we love as a whole, and its blind to see the not so good things.
Isn’t it interesting for those we don’t have that same love for, or the things we don’t love we can’t see those things in the same light or nature.
Can you imagine if God only loved those who were purely faithful to Him, and the rest we were just a faded comparison to?
Where would be standing today, where would our grace be?
Where would the promises that were given to us stand?
But it is in these moments we see how God knows He is the only perfect one, yet He shows a non-comparisoned love to all His creation.
Imagine God, sitting there and complaining every time one of His saints, were sinning and just complained, and pointed fingers instead of showing love with a heart of forgiveness to ALL
There is no wrong in love
Now do not get me wrong, I say this with caution.
If we love someone too much or something too much that takes the place of God, than that is not love.
That is unhealthy terms to be set up for failure
But when we have true God’s love that we strive for, unconditional, (agape, Greek agapē, in the New Testament, the fatherly love of God for humans, as well as the human reciprocal love for God - according to Britannica)
Now I say this because when Love is given right, there is no bad in it, there is no such thing of being scared to say I love you if its done the right way.
So if we are “scarred to love” thats why it torments us inside because its not a perfected love, it is a selfish love that is not founded by anything but prideful meaning.
3 Love types and 5 love languages
3 types of love that are recognized by science
Eros - is that pysical, sensual intimate love, 2. Erotica love - which is passionate stuff and 3. Philia which is friendship, brotherly love
5 love languages as taught by Gary Chapman
Words of affirmation 2. Gifts 3. acts of service 4. quality time 5. physical touch
all of these are important with the interactions we have with others, but remember love is a fruit of the spirit with such things there is no law against.
There has to be a balance, there has to be the triangle effect to make sure love is perfected and healthy!
