What is the difference in what the Bible calls salvation and what you call salvation?
Christ deals with the problem: your sins.
447 occurrences of blood, 448 of sin.
One sin keeps you away.
People hide behind their sins so they will not have to deal with that one sin.
Christ deals with the pressure: your self.
You keep you from Christ.
You blame everyone else.
You must deal with yourself.
Christ deals with the predicament: your sentence.
Jesus takes your sin debt and pays it.
Jesus takes your sin sentence and serves it.
Jesus sets you free!

Who he is. V.46
46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
Jericho - “place of fragrance”
a noted city, abounding in honey, cyprus, roses and other fragrant products.
A place that saw the walls fall by the hand of God.
begging - Lazarus (Luke 16:20)
What he wants. V.47
47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
when he heard that it was Jesus - Do you remember when you heard of Jesus?
Most hear of Jesus and are runNing.
Some hear of Jesus and are rioting.
Few hear of Jesus and are redeemed.
mercy -
to receive pity, experience compassion
to be an object of gracious favor and saving mercy,

First they rebuke him. V.48
48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
hold his peace - people don’t like it when you call for Jesus and not for them.
cried - cry out aloud, speak with a loud voice.
Then they reassure him. Vs.49–50
49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
Jesus stood still - two times in the Bible it is recorded Jesus stood still. Both are describing this incident.
Jesus stood still because someone cried aloud.
Jesus stood still because someone would not be silenced.
he calleth thee - what a joy! Do you remember when He called for you?
50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
casting away his garment - what Adam did not do, the blind man did.
came to Jesus - now that all the false self righteousness is out of the way, he can come to Jesus.

Jesus wanted to hear him. V.51
51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
What wilt thou that I should do unto thee - what if Jesus opened with this?
Would you ask for fame?
Would you ask for fortune?
Would you ask for friends?
Would you ask for family?
Would you ask for faith?
receive my sight - the very thing that held him back.
What holds you back?
Who holds you back?
When do they hold you back?
Jesus wanted to heal him. V.52
52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
Jesus - is changed to “he” or “him” in the NASV, ASV, ESV, HCSB, RSV, NRSV. Once again, this is another attack upon the person of the Lord Jesus Christ by omitting His proper name and referring to Him as “he” or “him.”
Jesus wants to heal you! It is the sin sickness He wants to heal.
If Jesus wants to heal you, would you follow Him?
Conclusion:
Receiving sight is a type of salvation.
Before we get saved…
We we’re blind to our Saviour.
We we’re blind to our sin.
We we’re blind to our self.
