Have you follow along with us and UK? Galatians chapter 2. Galatians 2:20 breathing focusing and

If you're just joining us, what I want to do or study of Galatians, which is a letter written. By the Apostle, Paul to the churches of galatia. And what is now Asia. Minor were both teachers. And leaving now. Away from the one true gospel to a fault. The help convince the new Believers of the truthfulness of the Gospel that Paul was for claiming he had been going through, trying to prove both his authenticity and the authenticity of the Gospel that he is preaching. So how Paul at work today? Let the gospel that he is. Gospel. That the apostles,

the only one true gospel in both the apostles in, Paul work. Preaching that saying gospel, that we picked up this morning. We're going to see how Clarity and the unity in the gospel is necessary but not enough, as we see how easy it is for our lives to deny the same gospel that we may clearly believe. And profess. and understand how that happens if you would this reads like

Both speakers came to Antioch. I opposed him to his face because he's sick. For the first before certain men came from James. He was eating with the Gentiles, but when they came, he drew back and separated himself fearing the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews, acted hypocritically along with him. So the even Barnabas was led astray by their Hip Hop.

The truth of the Gospel, I said to see if it's before the mall, if you GG. Look like a gentile, did not like a Jew. How can you force the Gentiles to live, like juice? Sprint.

Bob Evans, we look at passages like this. It's easy to

Miss the numerous ways that the same sanitation toddler affects us there but Praises, very simply that you would take the holy spirit's power. When he would take the word that he is made clear here and then he would have pressed on the heart to the speak. Do we pray for those that need to be encouraged in the gospel this morning, that they would be encouraged that they would remember the gospel. And I hope that given the situation. On to those who need to be moved to forgive but pray that you can lick them in their forgiveness, for those that need to be moved to pursue hole in it, fer them on. And look, for those who have many flaws, which is all of us to pray that we would see how about gospel, Bears, fruits and fathers meant to be applied all over. How are you? Lord lord lord. I pray that you glorify.

There are lots of humbling moment as a parent. And you can substitute the word humbling with embarrassing. For instance. There's the public embarrassment when your toddler's decide. They don't know who you are, and are going to scream at the top of their lungs and run in the exact opposite direction, while you're in the middle of a crowd. Yes, this has happened.

There's also the embarrassment on humbling when they decide to repeat something that they heard in private conversation in the home in front of a total stranger. Or when they decide to evacuate everything, everything have been storing up in their little bodies. While you're on the way, to some important thing is that you're already late for. All of those are humbling. All of those are embarrassing, but probably one of the most humbling things that can happen for a parent. Is when your child catches you in the middle of hypocrisy. When your child called out the radical inconsistency, between what you say, you believe in the tenor of life. I know that never happens to any of the people in this room, so I will give you an example from our life.

Department. For instance. This may have happened at our home recently, when I'm in the middle of watching or listening to a few of my children who will remain nameless in the middle of a argument. And then in my most frustrated angry boys. I yell at them in for be patient with one another. Parents anyone?

Talk about that later.

Usually when that happens maybe in the moment. I don't recognize. It's going on with one of my kids. It doesn't, so they will try to silence and then the reality slowly sets in that. I've been caught.

Where my words, my beliefs were out of mine with my actions and I think if we are honest we have all been in a situation with this reality has played out in our lives. In the past. We just read. We see that the apostles themselves were no exception. Peter himself is caught in an act of outright hypocrisy where his actions didn't.

Woodbury Costco.

Go to office sobering warning than that per hour. Today and everyday. We will compete. Easy gospel. Democracies in the church to be a place where as one off of wood.

Babe, visible. You say that again? God has designed the shirt to be the place. We've been screwed in the beauty of the Gospel plays out for the world. So when our lives and our church is going to flood. In the message of the Gospel were called the holdout to a world is unintentionally obscured by the tenor of Our Lives. And do what I want to do this morning is just to help us be on guard against the subtle danger of gospel, hip-hop receipt, that undermines the gospel. We want to hold on. ultimately,

That's what I've got is three lessons this morning that the passage teaches us about how to be on guard against gospel. The caucusing. The first lesson is this Play gospel. Apocracy the way down. Let's see what happens.

The week before we dive in verse 11. I think I'm looking around the room. I think many of you were here.

Paul has gone up to the apostles in the apostles in. He's laid. The gospel is preached before then. They hear the gospel. Say yes.

And they extend the right hand of Fellowship. Essentially saying, yes, we're on the same team. We are Partners in proclaiming the same job, but we have gospel solidarity.

But then, right after that. Universes were about to read. Paul must now confront, the man who's just given in the right hand of Fellowship. So we're even verses 11 and 12. Golden cephas came to Antioch. I have hoods into space. Charlie Stewart. Do before starting men came from James. He was eating with the Gentiles, but when they came, he threw back and separated himself fearing the circumcision. So what led then to Paul publicly opposing him Peter that is to his face. Is this just one of those events that Peter's Leo Paul thing out because he just wants to show like we doing. Gotcha moments with. What did he just being proud?

There is a reason that he is making this confrontation public. At first glance. So it doesn't seem like it's a big deal. He says before certain men came from James. He was eating with the Gentiles. But when the Jews from James meeting, they were kind of probably a part of James the circle in. At least claim to be a part of the circle would be the juice. Showed up apparently breakfast. He pulled back. It's okay. Peter. Stop eating, stop sharing a table with stop fellowshipping with Gentiles. As he once had these men showed up and then,

Background language. That is specifically uses of Drew back. Indicate. He almost anything almost slunk away.

That he just dependently diss. Their table. And here's the question. I think we need to kind of brings to you guys.

What does it matter who the fellowshipping with why is this irrelevant matter for us today? And it might sound like a little nothing. He just decided that he was going to start eating with his Jewish, but he said it was

Peter knows and Paul nose.

This act was actually absolutely inconsistent with the gospel. It might sound like a little nothing. But Paul knows repeat against Paul knows that this is an act of gospel, hip-hop, Christian, stay later. And the rest of the Jews, active hypocritically along with them because this act was inconsistent with the plane was claiming proclaiming in Belize. Now, why is that?

Because what he was saying. By his withdrawing was that Christ sacrificial death to these Gentiles wasn't enough. But these Gentiles Were Somehow incomplete and unclean second-class citizens because they weren't circumcised. This ultimately undermine Peter's, gospel of grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. And It ultimately what it did. Is it distracted from this message of the Glorious Grace, that makes this old one.

Peter's All gospel said this, that when Christ died on the cross for our sins, and we believe in him, we are made new in the Schedule that we were made into a new people that you just filed for our stage forgiven Glenn and our main one as much of the pigeons to 13 and 14 races without Christ Jesus. You were once were far off have been brought in by the blood of Christ for he himself. That is price cuz I do who has made us both one has broken down in his flesh, the dividing wall facility, which means there is nothing that separates us from Christ or form one another, because when Christ died every dividing wall hostility.

Can you die from separation? Which might seem like not a big deal is actually a very big deal because it's Community. Comes this to me getting something. Out. The gospel of Christ, saving and saving death in our faith in that is not enough. If there's something else that makes us different, that sets us apart.

So now here's the question. We need to ask if Peter did not believe this, but at least you don't think you did. Why did he do it? I mean, there is a second, there is to convince the option and maybe these Jews came in, and they convinced Peter. Maybe Peter, you know, now believe that you had to be circumcised in order to be safe. But remember that? This is the same heater than X10. Few years ago. We were setting it received this dramatic vision from God of this sheet of all these unclean animals, being lowered. Peter say, I can't eat any of these things. They're unclean and he looks at him and says, listen to. This isn't what I am called unclean, where I called clean. No man should call in. I'm actually sending someone to you and your to go with this Gentile and profess The Gospel Panic. Say that he's going to be your brother, not based on the fact that he is a Jew, not based on the fact that he was circumcised, but based on the fact that he believes in the same class. He's been saying my blood and it is on the basis of his righteousness.

So then what is causing Peter walk out of step with the gospel is very clear. Baby fear. The circumcision party. Play, Peter didn't want this group to speak ill of him. He could pixelated on what he knew to be true when you do to be right. In other words, in this instance, he allowed the fear of this route to control. And so, his actions flowed from his fear, not his faith in Christ. I think we open that up and packed as that is a heart.

Whenever our lives, our actions flow ultimately. Apart from faith in Christ. It will be controlled by something else. And gospel pieocracy is another See the gospel message of the unconditional love of God of favor with God through Christ, that says, if God is for us, who can be against us, frees us from Fear. It frees us from guilt. It freezes, from anger. The freezes from despair. It freezes from bitterness. And yet, we all have these moments, these Seasons, these situations in our lives that cause us to doubt that the down the gospel and to not operate in the truth of the Gospel that has been proclaimed.

But instead of walk in slavery to fear. Gospel doesn't control less than fear guilt, anger or bitterness desire to spare wheel. And at that point, gospel hip-hop. Receipt is inevitable. I think what that does? That teaches listening Fortin truth? That the truth of the Gospel is

every part of it. You see, I think often times, and I've said this before, but when we believe the gospel, there's this idea that we believe the gospel at the start of our Christian Life, and then be perfectly. Believe it throughout. The rest of our Christian life is not a reality. No, the gospel brings us into saving Union with Christ. But the reality is, the gospel must be believed every moment of our life. Because there are always times and situations where we doubt the gospel and we want to live control door. Strongly in the fears.

The gospel that we field medic. That's one off and put it. We are called to believe the gospel in the everyday stuff of Life. Instead of challenges to take the gospel from something, we See, the something that we see all of our lives through. You see we are all very good at compartmentalizing and excluding Christ monster. The wrestling with fear, anchor doubt unforgiveness to spare illicit desire. We fight first by clinging to the gospel of Christ because if faith, is it driving us fear? Or the flesh will be

Your whole, first, and foremost, in living a life out of the gospel and not falling into gospel. Tupac receive is seeking to believe the gospel. Leave that house.

When I bring the store second lesson, which is the inevitable end.

Never go into a gospel song.

The world in class. I teach you about homeschool Co-op and meet you on Tuesday, so we can all of us laugh. About culture. Basically, the cultures impact on our world, you how World used our form, than one of the things you get, when you're

Culture is almost like the water or swimming swimming. Define. Define culture culture, is what is normal for? Cultures, what is it? Normal for a particular group of people, the ideas, the language and actions that people share and how quickly. And, and how quickly does normal things can can change whether good or bad. Like, I know it was normal at, at one point for kids. When they were had free time to maybe go spend time outside of 8, and I think, now, increasingly with digital age. It's it's normal for kids to have digital devices to play on those things than when I first came up with you, this example before, when I first met my wife's family, I realized that it was normal, the dressed in camo and Hunt. I was abnormal in the family, but the reality is is that every culture, whether it's a family with a Southern Culture, Northern culture.

Has what new with the so-called is normal beliefs languages and action.

In what does culture. And what we see is that culture can actually shift as we read in verse 13 in the rest of the Jews, acted hypocritically along with him. So that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. You can easily see how this would happen, right? Peter, who is the leader of a leader in this church or just in a prominent leader begins to slowly slip away in one by one. The other Jews began to follow his lead, right? Because, well, if the leader is mostly not wanting to save face and wants to save face before this group, and I want to buy my enroute, find my other Jewish brothers, and sisters time everyone hired. Contingent.

By this gospel hypocrisy. Barnabas.

Is an impact to the point where he withdraws is fellowship from these Gentiles Believers and I think this is a powerful and honestly honest, look at how easily.

Play spread to a church culture. Nothing from it. We can learn three important lessons. One is that no one is above gospel to talk to Peter and Barnabas leaving the church and the gospel by their actions. There is not a person sitting before me today, who hears me that is not at least susceptible.

There are a thousand ways that we can all struggle to live out the gospel. It consistently. We must start by recognizing that this isn't the danger for the church, down the road or our friends at the Oro that that person in church. We really struggled to like they really need. This is an issue. And this is a challenge for everyone of us. The Temptation toward this can be subtle and motivated by something as simple as the desire to fit in.

The second me. The family gospel autocracy exist is not a reason to abandon the guy. the fact that gospel hip-hop to see if they exist is not a reason reason to abandon the gospel but to pursue and care about the Purity which is being there's been so much popular discussion around Christian deconstructing in recent years because of bad interactions with individual first cultures and maybe even some things in the broader American Christian culture that they

And then there's the pain caused by legitimate gospel hypocrisy in win. If you if you had, if you've been injured in the church to buy a Christian, the panties are more pointed because it's coming from somebody that you thought you could trust.

And there is a move right now to say that. Okay, if you're being injured within the charge from the problem, must be the gospel with maple cream. Something is wrong with my beliefs that are being communicated. I think this, Which is beyond our current experience, proved to us, that just because there is Gospel.

It doesn't mean.

Knowledge is not enough. You say that again, player me. We are thinking doctrinal preaching is not enough to keep us from the truth of the Gospel gospel. Apocracy, if anybody knew the truth of the Gospel.

Guess what? He likes, courage, conviction, commitment. Sometimes we think that you are documents pure enough. We're okay, but it's not.

Proclamation does not employ gospel culture. We have gospel hypocrisies. And I think one of the things that I see, for a danger for making Lakeside, as a people who love gospel Doctrine, when we walk through this, the class and we talked to people, so many times, they say that the real

We want to hear the word and that's a good.

Then you just not help us because just gospel raster Clarity on the, the preaching of the Gospel does not necessarily mean, we're leaving it out in a gracefield gospel.

We want to be. I want to be I don't you want to be people that live out? clearly, they don't understand because right.

Yahoo design. Cultures that are defined in. A place to see the impact of the Gospel. But in order for that to happen, the culture must flow from the gospel, the gospel cultures flow from the gospel will see. Cultures were sacrificial, service is normal. as we see Christ has served us for grace and extended Federal Red Wing as we forgive, as we Forgiven where Holiness is pursued because we recognize that he has saved us and cleansed us to bring us into this mess to self in holiness. Amber love is evident because of the way that we've been loved and when this happens, people will be drawn to in my trailer for myself. I pray for our church. Is that jerk this church with no the gospel clearly? Yes, but that the Gods

and stuff. In such a way that it would impact all of our lives that we would be a people that are sacrificially serving forgiving. Loving committed to one another. Not because of the Perfection of the church for the fraction of the Gospel. The way Christ has loved us. So often, we justify our lack of commitment or lack of love, our lack of something. Everybody else to say what's wrong with them and you know what? You're right. There was something broken about the church. There's something wrong with the church. It's called cinnamon till Christ returns. It's going to continue to be infected. That does not give us the right to stop loving you and giving ourselves to people that are imperfect and committed to them because ultimately Christ has loved us and such a way that it is inconsistent. If we're not doing that Brothers, it has nothing to do with the Perfection of these people and has everything to do with the Perfection of the Christ that loves you and gave himself for you so that you can turn love others.

Never uses the third last night and this is our shortest point. The only right response to gospel apocracy.

I'm hoping at this point, you've seen that this 2000 year old letter could not be more relevant. Let me see. Shoe gospel, hip-hop, Percy. Is it just the first century Jewish Christian problem? It's not just a problem for that, that church down the road that we all know, is not preaching the gospel. It's, it's not just the problem. For other Christians down the road. All must be on guard against always. I didn't mind, possed confrontation of Peter, actually helps us understand how we are.

So, you shouldn't be getting a 14, but when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the Gospel. I said to see this before. Then all, if you do Juju. Would like a gentile and not like a Jew. How can you force the Gentiles to live? Like Jesus? So Paul confronts Peterson, pieocracy by calling out, the inconsistency between the gospel. They were professing and the lies that they're living their staff youth. Diversity, does it publicly now. I'm here for you too. Every time you

The gospel to go before the church and state.

This person is walking and consistent with the gospel by Paul condemn him.

The reality here though is when a leader of the church is doing something. So inconsistent that didn't happen if the entire church culture. The way to address the issue without addressing.

Are you an odd way for call to confront counseling? The first like individually confront them or just loving the encouragement. Sometimes it doesn't even need a confrontation, but it must be addressed. We must recognize it and want to see it, right? The first place. You want to see it, right? Has been around the heart. 2nd and Lincoln.

I think we need to recognize that Paul is not saying, I don't like what you did. Paul is not cooling bracket on the boss, Peter Authority. Then you need to listen to me know, he's appealing to the gospel as the corrective. He's going back to the gospel.

With this.

and then, finally,

State and this idea that gospel believe. Should produce a gospel life when he said it again, on gospel, believe. Should produce a particular gospel, kind of Life. We've all heard the saying, don't talk the talk if you don't walk the walk, right? But he's actually saying more than that. He's saying that when the god.

When you come back.

Destined for hell.

but you alternate Lee word object of God's rap, but only

because he loved you enough to send his son to die on the cross. Erase everything that you have done, forgave you removed it. All from you and then in turn debut his favor and call. So did you have a whole kit in hair?

In his resurrection, when that settles it. Did you should impact you? Johnson played earlier. Like a life worthy of the calling of the Gospel that we had received. There is a glorious reality that we have.

A particular kind of.

I'm not saying here that you have to, I'm not making the case here that you have to be good enough to receive it. This is not the root of your salvation. I want to be real clear. Here you have receipt. Free and full and complete and lavish Grace. By faith alone. You done nothing to deceive who deserve it, but nothing to receive it and then in response to when that gospel seed, If it does not produce.

Like the increase. What's the view? Glory of Christ.

so, the church is supposed to be a place where we

So, how do we apply this in this community? What does it look? Love to one. Another is not just to say hard things are to tell you, when that person's bad, breath, smells bad or their zippers undone or something else. Hard truth that they need to hear. It's reminding them day in and day out of the truth of the Gospel. Did Jesus die. Is there a struggle with forgiveness? From remember that the controlling element for you? Is that what that person is done to you with the secret crisis? If you're struggling with beards, remembering that he who loves you and gave his son for you. How come that graciously? Give us, give you all things and if he is for you, who can be against you. And to remember that is there is despair than Christ is giving you a hoe. Unshakable a firm in Living Hope. And if you have that, hope that it changes everything about how you The issues of Life today.

We have to be a people that are constantly. Gospel. Because we need it everyday. And every moment, and every time because we are all in need of Grace, now until the Lord comes on.

So, I just want to encourage you to church. Let it be a place that doesn't merely know the guy. I believe the gospel in every moment of Our Lives.

Because what we need is not necessarily more strong Christian, that just kind of ran in Barren or pick themselves up by their own bootstraps, but people who understand the grace of God in Christ for them. And then seek to live all of their lives out of that reality.

Someone is struggling forgiveness. We remind them of what they've been forgiven. When they are despairing, we remind them of the hope that they have when they are still fearful to remind them of their father. It is increasingly. This would be a safe place to be able to bring up things where we are broken, where we are struggling. I'm looking around the room here. And I know that we're starting with, since we're struggling diagnosis that we just received. The gospel has implications of the Gospel, is for every single one of them.

A place that helps each other.

One of the realities of the family, but they know you better than anyone else. And the truth. Is that the better. Somebody knows us. The more they will see our gospel inconsistencies. It's inevitable. If you want to find out my boss. I don't encourage you to do this.

They will be able to tell me very clearly.

So you really had two options. You can keep everyone else gone slink. Where you can invite him to speak in your life. Invite him to speak the truth of the Gospel team. That's one of the things we've invited encouraged, our kids to do this, to ask us to stop on the AC were acting and sinful frustration. When they a disconnect between what we say, we're supposed to do and the way we're actually doing and then respectfully to say,

Can tell you what it is here. Kid's do you?

Prayers that we could grow as a people whose fight gospel hip hop Chrissy together by helping you.

Live it out.

Everyone, who? everyone with Everyone we go to English.

Let me make an hour. You'd be so that the gospel that we Proclaim with clarity. Baby consistently.

But we need you.

We need to do the same box. We need you to consistently save us now, continue saving us and what we need to understand. We need your brace even be able to walk out the truth Pulliam packet for us if we can apply. But we will never stop needing you. So we just asked if we would grow pomegranates church and our glory, and I'm scheduling and replying and I'll be leaving.
