Numbers 20:1–5 ESV
1 And the people of Israel, the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month, and the people stayed in Kadesh. And Miriam died there and was buried there. 2 Now there was no water for the congregation. And they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. 3 And the people quarreled with Moses and said, “Would that we had perished when our brothers perished before the Lord! 4 Why have you brought the assembly of the Lord into this wilderness, that we should die here, both we and our cattle? 5 And why have you made us come up out of Egypt to bring us to this evil place? It is no place for grain or figs or vines or pomegranates, and there is no water to drink.”
Numbers 20:1–5 RVR60
John 7:37–39 ESV
37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ ” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
John 7:37–39 RVR60
The Spirit of GOD is represented or described with:
Wind
Fire
Oil
Water
Water is a representation of the Spirit of GOD!
Jesus tells the Samaritan woman:
John 4:10 ESV
10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
John 4:10 RVR60
Water is extremely vital to our human bodies.
We can survive for extended periods of time without food
but without water we DIE!
Your Body is 90% water
Saliva - Digestion
Allows the bodys cells to grow, reproduce, survive
Cleanses the body and flushes out toxic waste
Lubricates joints (Coyonturas)
The brain needs it to make hormones, helps neurotransmitters
Regulates body temperature
Shock absorber for brain and spinal cord
Delivers oxygen to the entire body.
Water is an extremely powerful force
When your body is dehydrated things begin to go very wrong
1% thirsty/ reduced concentration
5% Hot, Tired, Decrease performace
10% Delirium/ blurred vision
20% Death
Genesis 1:2 ESV
2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:2 RVR60
Water has factors that no other element on earth has.
It freezes, expands, melts, cracks giant rocks apart, breaks them down into soil.
Water is extremely complex to understand yet extremely vital to our entire existence
Dr Masaru Emoto wrote a book “The hidden messages of water”
“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” - Bruce Lee
Why tell you all this about water
We must understand the symbolism in the Word of GOD!
- The Bible mentions the Wilderness of Zin nine times
Galatians 5:22–23 ESV
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22–23 ESV
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
9 Characteristics of the Fruit of the SPIRIT!
God had taken the people out of slavery, out of Egypt.
For 400 years they found themselves in slavery,
God heard their cry and had taken them out of Slavery, out of captivity
But now for some reason, Find themselves in a DRY PLACE…
With the question in their minds WHAT IS WORSE?
Truth is many prefer slavery over the “Responsibility of Freedom”
“I Rather be a slave, tell me what to do, Be a dictator over me, at least that way I don’t have to take responsibility for my own freedom” ..... WOW!
But they find themselves in a DRY PLACE! Their lives are at stake… Death threatens them.
When the people find themselves in this situation the first thing they do is look for someone to blame!
Take responsibility for your freedom!
They tell Moses “You brought us into this wilderness”
Who brought you into the wilderness? Into a dry land?
We find ourselves in dry land when there is no Flowing of the Spirit of GOD!
John 4:24 ESV
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:24 RVR60
Lack of worship drives you into dry land
You can come to church, read the word just to read it, do everything else but if you are not operating in the Spirit of GOD you will find yourself in a Dry Land. with no water
A spiritual Drought

Where do you get that living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock.” 13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”
John 4:10–15 RVR60
