Celebrating Milestones: Salvation
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
Ephesians 2:8
At the age of 26, Calvin Hunt lost a much-desired recording contract.
Disappointed and angry, he began experimenting with drugs.
Over the next few years, his life began to spiral downward.
He disappeared from home for days at a time and spent all his money on crack cocaine.
But one day, Calvin met someone who would forever change his life.
Due to the prayers of many people, Calvin came to a Tuesday night prayer meeting.
It was there that he abandoned himself to the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.
Calvin now admits, "I was headed for homelessness and a pushcart lifestyle.
I should be in the grave today."
If not for the grace of God, all of us would be spiritually dead.
Although our story may not be as dramatic as Calvin's, our salvation is still a miracle.
For in one moment, God rescued us, helpless sinners, from sin and death.
Have you recently celebrated the greatest milestone of all - your spiritual birthday?
Why not celebrate every year, if not every day, the miracle of your rebirth in Christ!
Lord, thank you for saving me, for redeeming my life from sin and death.
