Step 1: The Interview

Introduce yourself then ask where does it hurt or what would you like me to pray for?

What’s wrong?

How Long?

• Natural level – what can you see?

• Supernatural – ask God for Words of Knowledge, discernment, visions, words of Wisdom

• It’s not a medical interview- get the facts;

• Move to the next stage when ready.

Diagnosis: through asking these questions and listening to the person with one ear and Holy Spirit with the other, you can diagnose where to start, how to pray, and determine root causes of the problem and not simply symptoms

• Natural causes – disease, accident;

• Sin – committed by them or against them;

• Emotional hurts causing physical or other pain;

• Relationship problems – lack of forgiveness;

• Supernatural – may be demonic;

• Keep asking for God’s help – it may be useful to pray in tongues;

• Ask them questions if appropriate.

Step 2: Prayer Selection

What kind of prayer shall I pray to help this person?

Command:

Addressed to a condition of the body or to a troubling spirit

Appropriate when: initial step, where there is a Word o Knowledge, where progress of petition prayers have stopped to cast out spirits, when curse or vow is broken, when led by Holy Spirit, as preliminary to praying for healing

“In the name of Jesus, I command this tumor to shrivel up and dissolve…spine be straight!...Be healed!...I command every afflicting spirit to get out of Jim’s body!...”

Petition:

A request to heal, addressed to Father God, Jesus, or Holy Spirit.

We are not begging Him, or trying to convince God rather we are agreeing with Him to come and to do His will on earth.

“Father in the name of Jesus, I ask you to restore sight to this eye…Come Holy Spirit, release your power, touch Jim’s back in Jesus’ name.”

Ask, Seek, Knock

• Pronouncement – of faith John 4:50

• Demonic – rebuke (break their power) bind them (contain) expel (get rid).

Step 3: Prayer engagement

How are you doing?

Keep your eyes open and watch for the effects – physical signs (warmth,tingling, shaking etc);

Ask questions – find out what God is doing;

Stop when – they think it’s all over; the Spirit tells you it’s over; you’ve run out of things to pray; when it’s going nowhere;

Jesus prayed with short, simple, effective command type prayers demonstrating His authority and power.

STEP 4: STOP AND RE-INTERVIEW

Pray short prayers, stopping to test it out, check progress, and reevaluate

Test it out: this important action involves faith and many times is where healing happens

May have to pray and test it out many times until completely healed

If progress has stopped, re-evaluate and re-interview

Ask questions that might help to determine if there is unforgiveness, curses, fear, or occult involvement.

Also, consider

whether an evil spirit is present.

Step 5: Post prayer direction

What should they do to keep their healing?

i.e. ‘Stop sinning’

• Read their Bibles, spend time with God;

• Get involved or keep involved in the local church;

• Check with their doctor.
