We sing songs about power and authority and yet so many live lives that feel powerless
the world happens to us instead of us happening to it.

He’s trying to get them focused on who hey were created to be.
They had been opressed, enslaved for hundrds of years and had slave mentality.
they needed to be retaught.

Jesus is born and living sinless so he has the authority God gave A&E
Luke 10:17-18 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
Luke 10:19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
unless jesus wanted us to use that authority he would not have taught them to use it.
We shouldn’t live like slave, subject to our world
If there was any question as to if jesus meant for us to have this authority, he answers it in the great commission.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Jesus took back the authority from the devil that A&E gave him and give it back to its rightful owners - Mankind
