1 Peter 1:22–25 (NKJV)
22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
24 because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away,
25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
There are two type of seed. Corruptible seed Incoruptable Seed.
Two ways we can see Corruptible and inccoruptible
one is perishable, and the other is unperishable
one is able to be corrupted ( is able to be made to sin), the other cannot be corrupted ( cannot be made to sin).
The seed is reffering to a body. A corruptible body and an inccoruptible body
When we were first born, From our mothers womb. We were born of the Corruptible seed. The seed of the first Man, the seed of Adam. Hence We were the children of Adam,
The seed of Adam is corruptible, it persihes, it came formed from the dust and it goes back to the dust.
The Incoruptible seed, is the seed of Christ, who is Christ. Those who are born of Christ, have put on the incoruptible body of Christ.
It is incorruptible because it is the Word of God which lives and abides forever.
Example david and Christ
Acts 13:34–37 NKJV
34 And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus: ‘I will give you the sure mercies of David.’ 35 Therefore He also says in another Psalm: ‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.’ 36 “For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption; 37 but He whom God raised up saw no corruption.
David body saw Corruption, But Christ body did not see corruption.
David body was from the Corruptible Seed. The body which perishes.
Christ body was the inccoruptible seed, The word of God that lives and abides forever.
Jesus was dead three days and three nights, yet his body saw no corruption because he was the Word of life. Death had no power of him. Lazarus was only dead three days and he was already sticking,
We have to be born of the incorruptible seed.
1 Corinthians 15:35–50 (NKJV)
35 But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?”
36 Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies.
37 And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain—perhaps wheat or some other grain.
38 But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds.
40 There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.
43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.
44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.
47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust [corruptible]; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. [incorruptible]
48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.
2. One is able to be corrupted ( is able to be made to sin), the other cannot be corrupted ( cannot be made to sin).
1 John 3:7–10 (NKJV)
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.
8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.
Three things we have take a look at here
He who sin is of the devil because he was the first sinner (sinned from the begining)
The Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the Devil.
He who is born of God does not commit sin, because his seed remains in him and he cannot sin.
Those who sin are called the children of the devil and those who practice righteousness are the children of God.
Lets look at
What is The Works of the devil?
The Works of the devil is Sin
Therefore whoever commits sin is doing the works of the devil and hence the bible says he who sins is of the devil.
Define sin: sin is disobedience.
1 John 3:4 KJV 1900
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1 John 3:4 KJV 1900
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Whoever disobeys is doing the works of the devil.
The seed of God cannot sin
9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
The reason that the one that is born of God cannot sin is because God’s seed is in him.
“HIs seed” reffering to God’s seed which is Christ
God’s Seed, Christ/ The body of God/ the son of God, cannot sin. It cannot do the workd of the devil. Hence it is incorruptible.
Example the first man and the second Man
The first man
Genesis 2, God formed man out of the dust of the ground and called him Adam and he formed the woman from the man and placed the in the garden
The devil came to see if he could corrupt what God had made. He came to see if this man, this flesh can be corruptible. He can cause this man to do his works, sin.
He preached to the flesh, and the flesh responded because it was very appealing
Genesis 3:6 “6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.”
The second man
The devil came to the Second man who was formed from the Word of God and is the word of God, to see if he was the same as the First man he met in the Garden of Eden.
The devil tempted Jesus three times,
One with turning stone to bread, the other putting him on a pinnacle of the temple and asking him to throw himself. The last, showing him the glory of the world.
He tried to allure his flesh but he refuse to do his works.
Finally Jesus said “away with you” or “get behind me”
The firsth man was the earthly man, The Second man was the Heavenly man.
The first man was the corruptible seed, the second man was the incorruptible seed of God.
The First man was of the dust, The second man was the lord from heaven, the Eternal word of God made flesh.
When We are Born of God, The seed of God is in us Christ. We put on Christ in baptism.
The Devil Control over mankind through the flesh( corruptibel Seed)
After he corrupted the first man, through the first man the devil was able to subjagates all who are born of the first man to his works.
Romans 5:19 “19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.”
1 corinthians 15:22 “22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”
How does one mans disobedies, cause you and me to sin, to do the works of the devil
How is it one mans disobedies cause all of us to die.?
We are his descendants, we have his flesh, this flesh that was sold to sin
When Adam disobeyed God, he was selling himself to the devil, to sin. The devil now got in possesion of the first man. Through the first man, he made everyone that is born of the first man slaves to him, to do his works which is sin. Whatever he wanted us to do we will do, just like slaves.
Exodus 21, there is a law about slaves.
If a Slave marries and has children in his masters house, all his children are his masters.
All who were born of Adam were slaves of sin were sold under sin
Romans 7:14–25 (NKJV)
14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.
16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good.
17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.
19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.
20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good.
22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
Ephesians 2:1–3 (NKJV)
1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
The desire of the flesh and of the mind, the desire of the devil.
The devil works in the sons of disobedience through the flesh.
The flesh becomes the office of the devil’s works (sin
2. The Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the Devil
The works of the devil is sin.
The Son of God is Christ (Body of God), how does Christ destory the works of the Devil.
Romans 8:3 (NKJV)
3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,
Jesus on the cross destroyed Sin and death and him who had the power of Death. Praise for what he did on the cross.
How does what he did on the cross apply to me and you?
What the first man did applied to to us because we were born of him, we had his body.
What the second man did will apply to us if we are born of him, and we have his body.
How do we get born of Christ?
Through baptism we put on Christ, we become the Sons of God.
Galatians 3:27 NKJV
27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Romans 6:1–7 (NKJV)
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,
6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.
Colossians 2:11–13 (NKJV)
11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,
12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,
In baptism the corruptible seed together with its sins is removed and burried in the water.
We put on the incoruptible seed of God, the Son of God.
Just like the devil use the corruptible seed, the flesh of Adam to cause us to do his works (sin)
God uses his incorruptible seed, his flesh wherein he has clothed us to , to do his works, the works of rigtheousness.
Romans 6:17–18 NKJV
17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
Rigtheousness is the works of God,
Sin is the works of the devil
Through the flesh of Adam we were slaves to the workd of satan, Sin
Through the flesh of Christ we become slaves of rigtheousness.
Why? do you try to live for rigthoeusness without having put on Christ. Without being born of the Second Man. Without being born of the incorruptible Seed.
Message to those who are born again
Don’t allow the flesh of the first man to live, but the flesh of the second man.
Romans 8:12–14 NKJV
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Colossians 3:5–11 NKJV
5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. 8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.
One must die for the other to live.
If the old man lives then we will work the works of the devil
If the new man live we will work the works of God.
Galatians 5:24 NKJV
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
1 John 5:18 NKJV
18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.
How do we keep ourself, By making sure the flesh is dead through the spirit.
