The Priority of Our Prayers.
(v.1-2)
Paul says, “First of all”.
This means that prayer should be first in importance, first in rank, and first in priority in the life of every Believer, also in the life of every Church!
In many ways, prayer has often taken a backseat to so many other things in our lives and even in our ministries.
But our text this morning reminds of the significance of Prayer!
PRAYER…is POWERFUL!
PRAYER... is the Privilege of the the Believer!
Jer.
33.3 “3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”
John 16.23 “23 In that day you will ask nothing of me.
Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.”
Heb.
4.16 “16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
The text suggest that our prayers are made up of a few key elements…what I like to call “key ingredients”
Supplications - The bringing of our needs to God.
Phil.
4.6 “6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
2. Prayers - This word actually reminds that prayer is an act of worship, that we
are in the very presence of God.
Therefore deserves our reverence.
3. Intercessions - Means to “come along-side of”.
It refers to the fact that as
Christians, we have a responsibility to bring the needs of others to
God.
Prayer should never be be filled with selfishness.
4. Thanksgiving - As we pray, we should also reflect on the goodness of God
which in turn fills our hearts with gratitude and appreciation for what
He has done, is doing and is going to do!
Who should we pray for?
The Apostle Paul tells us that we are to pray for “all people”.
- No one is exempt.
- We can’t pick and choose who we’re going to pray for and
who we’re not going to pray for!
- “ALL MEANS, ALL”!
Paul even gets specific.
(v.2)
“for kings and all who are in high positions,”
Why Paul?
“that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and
dignified in every way.”
- We are call to uphold the Integrity of the Kingdom of
God!
- If there is ever a time that we should be praying, it is
now!
The Pleasure Of Our Prayers.
(v. 3)
Our consistency in prayer always brings glory and praise to our Heavenly Father!
That’s why we are who we are!
The Purpose Of Our Prayers.
(v. 4)
God’s greatest desire is that all are saved!
We are called to hate sin, but to love the sinner.
God has saved us and has called us to partnership with Him in reaching the world for the sake of His Kingdom.
