Afflicted Blessings Series

Genesis 32:24–30 AMP
24 And Jacob was left alone, and a Man wrestled with him until daybreak. 25 And when [the Man] saw that He did not prevail against [Jacob], He touched the hollow of his thigh; and Jacob’s thigh was put out of joint as he wrestled with Him. 26 Then He said, Let Me go, for day is breaking. But [Jacob] said, I will not let You go unless You declare a blessing upon me. 27 [The Man] asked him, What is your name? And [in shock of realization, whispering] he said, Jacob [supplanter, schemer, trickster, swindler]! 28 And He said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob [supplanter], but Israel [contender with God]; for you have contended and have power with God and with men and have prevailed. 29 Then Jacob asked Him, Tell me, I pray You, what [in contrast] is Your name? But He said, Why is it that you ask My name? And [the Angel of God declared] a blessing on [Jacob] there. 30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel [the face of God], saying, For I have seen God face to face, and my life is spared and not snatched away.
This is the story of a man who reached a cross road, he couldn’t move any further in Life until he addressed issues he ran from 21 years ago.
And I am talking to someone right now thats comfortable in your Now. Yet your at a cross road, and either you stay broke, or stay miserable, or stay unsatisfied or STAY unemployed or never discover THE True Anointing IN YOUR LIFE or you never discover what gifts are dying to flow in your life.
So thats wrong side of the cross road
The right side is what Jacob encountered a uncomfortable name change
Why was it uncomfortable?
1. He was left alone
2. His Hip was dislocated because he was winning the fight
Genesis 32:25 NLT
25 When the man saw that he would not win the match, he touched Jacob’s hip and wrenched it out of its socket.
Some of the pain we experience is self afflicted
Some of the pain is because we refuse to yield to God.
Yield: To give up possession, to surrender or relinquish to the physical control of another
Some of us are too strong to become weak
2 Corinthians 12:9 TPT
9 But he answered me, “My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me.
Tell someone, even superman has to be Clark Kent sometimes
AS i was preparing this message the Lord highlighted something in my spirit..
He Said Rob, the problem with many of my children is they are much stronger fighting against my will.
And they are extremely weak when they are fighting the devil, therefore thats why true deliverance can’t happen..
Remember he continued fighting when his hip had been dislocated...
3rd Reason:
He had to confront His name, His behavior And His reputation
Genesis 32:27 (AMP)
27 [The Man] asked him, What is your name? And [in shock of realization, whispering] he said, Jacob [supplanter, schemer, trickster, swindler]!
This is who he was and this is why he was in this position in life
And I Know this is the blame it on others and I am entitled to act this way generation.
It took 21 years for Jacob to finally confront it, You Ready!!
Come on look at your neighbor on the left & Right and ask them You Ready To confront Who they say you are..
Genesis 32:28 AV
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
The angel told him, yea i know what they called you, and i know your personality matches that name.. But today..........
2 Corinthians 5:17 AV
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Isaiah 43:19 AV
19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Revelation 21:5 AV
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
Isaiah 65:17 AV
17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
THE ANGEL SAID You shall No longer be called trickster, Schemer, supplanter & swindler
But Isreal ( Prince ) for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
Conclusion:
Jacob wanted a blessing he never seen before. Please remember Jacob was a blessed man already. But he needed something money couldn’t buy.
The Angle couldn’t honor his request in the state that he was in, so it was necessary to first change his name from cursed to blessed.
Amplified Bible (Chapter 32)
And [the Angel of God declared] a blessing on [Jacob] there
God blessed him in the same place he experienced great pain, And in Great Pain he was willing to Confront who he was which was the key to his Name Change
In The Place called Pain you learn who you really are and who you really not.
Jacob limped away with a brand new Name
Lets pray
