Q: Do you feel emotionally healthy?
Q: How do you measure that? Can you measure that?
Q: What is a sign of being emotionally immature?

Demanding Attention
Lashing out, verbally or physically
Avoiding problems
Elijah
1 Kings 19:4 ESV
But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he asked that he might die, saying, “It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.”
Jonah
Jonah 4:3 ESV
Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”
Are these men emotionally immature?
Maybe but maybe not, they could have just had a moment of weakness.
Q: How can we guard against those times when we are emotionally weak?
Isaiah 41:10 ESV
fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Matthew 6:34 ESV
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Philippians 4:6 ESV
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
We see many people in the Bible that have gone through terrible suffering and pain. Yet they prevailed
Psalm 13:1–3 ESV
How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,
This is David when he was King, What in the world does he have to complain about?
Riches, power and influence does not spare you from emotional suffering. You have to build that emotional strength yourself.
Who would you say is emotionally strong, what kinds of Characters in movies portray emotional strength?
What we are told is that a man who is emotionally unavailable is emotionally strong. This is not correct. Inversely though you do not want to only follow your emotions
Jeremiah 17:9 ESV
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
If you follow only your heart, you will do foolish things that disobey God. The pastors who have done so have started preaching that there is no penalty for rejecting Christ. They accept any and all forms of sin into the church body and promote those sins.
The opposite are the the pastors who preach only condemnation, salvation under them is nearly impossible and there is no grace preached.
What is correct way?
Know when to show love and know when to stand up against unrighteousness.
