Faithful
What is a talent?
Talent is a unit of measurement often used to weigh out silver or Gold.
So in this story we are not talking about gifts or natural abilities.
The master is entrusting his servants with a measure of his wealth, proportionate to each of their abilities.
The Master gets 3 servants and gives them each a portion of talents.
Now I am sure the servants were a little surprised when they were called over.
Spread the Wealth
How do we take this with our walk in faith?
Well let’s say that if 3 people became a Christian, we will call them Larry, Curly and Moe.
Now Larry is very excited about his new life.
He is so excited that he tells 5 people.
Now those 5 people each tell 1 person to get another 5 people.
Curly becomes a Christian on the same day and he tells 3 people who each tell 1 person each to get another 3 people
Then Moe he becomes a Christian and he tells 1 person but tells him dont tell anyone.
These two were rewarded by their master for what the have done.
Rewarded
We all like the feeling of being rewarded right.
We like hearing the words “Well done, Good and faithful servant.”
For every Action there is a Reaction
How often do we hear that statement.
It could be a good reaction or a bad reaction.
We saw with the other two that they were rewarded for what they did.
This last guy Moe, took his faith hid it and did nothing with it.
Why?
He was afraid of what people might think of him.
With each one of these parables.
Jesus is trying to explain to everyone that there is only two outcomes depending on how you live your life on earth
Heaven or Hell
Heaven or Hell.
Today will you make the decision on which side you want to be on.
Today will you make the decision on who you will serve.
