About two week ago, I was in New York City. And let me just preface what i am about to say by saying, I LOVE NEW YORK! Like I can totally understand why people come back home with the “I Heart New York” shirts, because it is a fun place to be at. The food is amazing, the sights are awesome, even the subways are pretty interesting.
HOWEVER, halfway through my trip I realized that New York is a place that most people go to escape their reality
You can be anything you want to be. If you want to have your own tv show, they have the NBC studios. If you want to be an actor, they have broadway. If you want to be a fashion designer, they have their own fashion. If you want to be Kevin McCallister from Home Alone, they have the hotel!
New York is the ultimate place to escape. And the truth is while some of you have never boarded to plane to land in JFK, we all have little “New York’s” in our lives.
Places, Things, Habits that we go to, to escape our reality. In a world that weighs us down with pressures of anxiety, depression, wars, rumors of wars, oppression....
MY QUESTION TONIGHT IS WHAT DOES YOUR ESCAPE LOOK LIKE? BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE THEM!

However, tonight I am under the persuasion that there is another way. I believe God has provided a better way to handle to the pressures that life presents

There is a distinct difference between an escape and an encounter.
An escape is a temporary high that only last momentarily, an encounter is when God marks you for life
An escape is when you ignore the facts and abandon reality, but an encounter will alter the facts and change your reality.
An escape will eventually leave you feeling empty, an encounter will leave you feeling empowered!
One encounter can change your life

We all can experience God, but we may have different encounters
