John 15:15-16

“The Lord Himself”
Occurs 3 times in the Bible:
His Requirement.
Joshua 22:23 (AV)
23 That we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD, or if to offer thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it;
His Redeemer.
Isaiah 7:14 (AV)
14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
His Rapture.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 (AV)
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
The relationship God wants is formed by what...
He tells you (Scripture)
What you tell Him (prayer)
The relationship is the born again believer’s key to the fruitful Christian life Jesus spoke of in John 15.
This relationship can be summarized in three WORDS:

I. Baptized.

SAVED!
1 Corinthians 1:12–13 AV
12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. 13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
Why do people get baptized?
What reason does a born again believer get baptized?
To be obedient to the command of the Saviour.
NOT TO GO TO HEAVEN!
Ephesians 2:8–9 AV
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Cults falsify Scripture:
Mark 16:15–16 AV
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Scripture examples of baptism:
Acts 8:26-38
Act 9:1-18

II. Upon.

SEALED!
Ephesians 1:13–14 AV
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 4:30 AV
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Why a seal?
It shows these things:
Ownership.
“bought with a price” occurs 2x in the Bible
1 Corinthians 6:20
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
1 Corinthians 7:23
Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
Ordination. John 15:16
Occupation.
“sealed with the King’s ring”

III. Filled.

SERVING!
Ephesians 5:18 AV
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Filled means to be controlled by someone or something.
“filled with” 1st occurrence:
Genesis 6:11 AV
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
Controlled by violence
Proverbs 12:21 AV
21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
Controlled by mischief
Proverbs 14:14 AV
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
Controlled by self
Luke 1:15 AV
15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.
Luke 1:41 AV
41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
Controlled by the Holy Ghost
Conclusion:
God’s relationship to you is initiated by Him in...
The pages of His Scripture.
The Power of His Spirit.
The Payment of His Son.
Have you been paid for?
