Pearl harbor

Dec. 7, 1941
Personnel at the Japanese Embassy in Washington DC started to burn critical documents and destroy encryption machines. This prompted commanders in Washington to send a clear warning signal to Short and Kimmel on a possible attack by Japan.
Short and Kimmel thought that the attack would be in the Philippines and didn’t increase the naval base’s security. Yamamoto predicted the possibility of a 50 percent success rate for the mission. Yamamoto was lucky enough that the entire Japanese flotilla was undetected during its journey from Japan to pearl harbor.A US Navy ship spotted a midget submarine near a USA navy base. Stuck by a depth charge, the midget submarine came ashore.
On the morning of 7 December 1941 the SCR-270 radar at the Opana Radar Site on northern Oahu detected a large number of aircraft approaching from the north. This information was conveyed to Fort Shafter’s Intercept Center. The report was dismissed by Lieutenant Kermit Tyler who assumed that it was a scheduled flight of aircraft from the continental United States. The radar had in fact detected the first wave of Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service aircraft about to launch the Attack on Pearl Harbor.
At 07:02 Lockard and Elliot saw a massive formation of aircraft on the oscilloscope. More experienced in radar than Elliot, Lockard considered it highly unusual to see 180 planes showing up on his radar.[6][4] Lockard and Elliot detected the formation 132 miles (212 km) out, close to their oscilloscope's 150 miles (240 km) display limit.[3][6] Initially puzzled over the oscilloscope's pronounced reading, they confirmed that the radar was in good working order. Lockard then called his immediate supervisor, but was unable to reach him.[6] Elliot contacted the Intercept Center at Fort Shafter. McDonald received the call and Elliott requested the plotters.[1] When McDonald indicated that the plotters had left, Elliott warned that a large number of planes were en route to Hawaii from the north 3 points east. Assuming he was the only one left at the center, McDonald replied that he did not know what to do since no one else was there with him.[7] Suddenly, the connection went dead.[2]
After checking the time on the center's clock, McDonald saw a USAAC Lieutenant, Kermit Tyler sitting at the plotting table. McDonald informed Tyler of the call from Opana. Inexperienced in the Intercept Center's operations and on his second day on the job, Tyler downplayed the report. After returning to the switchboard, McDonald called Opana back and instead reached his friend, Lockard. McDonald relayed to Lockard Tyler's general lack of urgency. More frantic than his colleague Elliot, Lockard warned that a large number of aircraft were headed quickly towards Oahu, covering the entire scope. Holding Lockard on the line, McDonald returned to Tyler at the plotters table, advising him of the urgency in Lockard's voice. When Tyler suggested to McDonald that it was likely a formation of B-17 aircraft coming from the continental United States, Lockard requested to speak directly with Tyler. When Lockard again warned Tyler about planes en route to Oahu, Tyler told Lockard, "Don't worry about it." After ending the call with Lockard, McDonald asked Tyler if they should contact the plotters and notify Wheeler Field, Tyler again replied, "Don't worry about it".[2][8][6]
The Japanese midget submarine HA 19 was ordered to enter the Pearl Harbor in the early hours of December 7, 1941, and use its torpedoes to attack the ships.
HA 19 was the first wave of attack with five midget submarines destined for the mission. HA 19 started with a broken compass. The crew on the USS Ward spotted HA 19 and attacked it with depth charges.
HA 19 hit a coral reef and ran aground due to navigation issues, and the crew abandoned it. USS Ward’s depth charge was the first attack on the conflict between the US and Japan.
The US Navy ship’s captain reported the incident to the Pacific fleet chief, Admiral Husband Edward Kimmel. Kimmel took the event lightly and failed to alert the pacific fleet docked in Pearl Harbor. In a few hours, half of the US Pacific Fleet came under attack.
Matthew 7:24–27 CSB
24 “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn’t act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. It collapsed with a great crash.”

C. Intuition/Feeling
Proverbs 14:12 CSB
12 There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death.
Today we have science that tells us to guide an anorexic child to accept the body God gave her. We don’t encourage them to continue to harm their body. But the same science tells parents and teachers to administer puberty blockers on young children 3 or 5 years old if they don’t identify according to their body.
D. Tradition
Terry Fullam, "Worship: What We're Doing, and Why,"
I'm thinking of a small-town church in upstate New York. They'd had a rector in that church for over thirty-five years. He was loved by the church and the community. After he retired, he was replaced by a young priest. It was his first church; he had a great desire to do well. He had been at the church several weeks when he began to perceive that the people were upset at him. He was troubled. Eventually he called aside one of the lay leaders of the church and said, "I don't know what's wrong, but I have a feeling that there's something wrong." The man said, "Well, Father, that's true. I hate to say it, but it's the way you do the Communion service." "The way I do the Communion service? What do you mean?" "Well, it's not so much what you do as what you leave out." "I don't think I leave out anything from the Communion service." "Oh yes, you do. Just before our previous rector administered the chalice and wine to the people, he'd always go over and touch the radiator. And, then, he would--" "Touch the radiator? I never heard of that liturgical tradition." So the younger man called the former rector. He said, "I haven't even been here a month, and I'm in trouble." "In trouble? Why?" "Well, it's something to do with touching the radiator. Could that be possible? Did you do that?" "Oh yes, I did. Always before I administered the chalice to the people, I touched the radiator to discharge the static electricity so I wouldn't shock them." For over thirty-five years, the untutored people of his congregation had thought that was a part of the holy tradition. I have to tell you that church has now gained the name, "The Church of the Holy Radiator." That's a ludicrous example, but often it's nothing more profound than that. Traditions get started, and people endure traditions for a long time. They mix it up with practical obedience to the living God.
2. How to Have the Bible Guide your life:
Pray for Wisdom when reading Scripture.
Proverbs 28:26 CSB
26 The one who trusts in himself is a fool, but one who walks in wisdom will be safe.
Look for a Command or Principle to be obeyed.
Psalm 119:109 CSB
109 My life is constantly in danger, yet I do not forget your instruction.
See if there’s a sin to avoid.
Acts 5:29 CSB
29 Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than people.
Ask if the Holy Spirit would be grieved.
Ephesians 4:29–30 CSB
29 No foul language should come from your mouth, but only what is good for building up someone in need, so that it gives grace to those who hear. 30 And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit. You were sealed by him for the day of redemption.
Will this harm other’s or you?
Psalm 15:4 CSB
4 who despises the one rejected by the Lord but honors those who fear the Lord, who keeps his word whatever the cost,
Seek Godly counsel.
Proverbs 13:10 CSB
10 Arrogance leads to nothing but strife, but wisdom is gained by those who take advice.
When in doubt, don’t.
Romans 14:23 (CSB)
23 But whoever doubts stands condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith, and everything that is not from faith is sin.
Ask God to give you peace and confidence.
Philippians 4:7 CSB
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
