When Purpose meets His Will @ the Well

John 4:4 AMP
4 It was necessary for Him to go through Samaria.
John (The Glory is Revealed Among the Despised: A Samaritan Woman (4:1–42))
This story depicts a series of barriers that must be overcome in order for a Samaritan women to have faith in Jesus. Thus, in this story we learn more about who Jesus is and the grace he offers, as well as more about discipleship.
John The Glory is Revealed Among the Despised: A Samaritan Woman (4:1–42)

Jesus moves back into Galilee from Judea because the Pharisees have learned of his popularity (4:1).* There has been no opposition from them up to this point, though the commotion in the temple has raised questions. Jesus is not “on the lam” yet (contrast 7:1), but he nevertheless clearly wants to avoid contact with the Pharisees.

John The Glory is Revealed Among the Despised: A Samaritan Woman (4:1–42)

If Nicodemus had shared with his fellow Pharisees something of his conversation with Jesus, then they would have even more questions. They had sent agents to the Baptist to ask whether he was the Christ and to find out why he was baptizing (1:19–28).

John The Glory is Revealed Among the Despised: A Samaritan Woman (4:1–42)

By moving on, Jesus avoids such questions and the confrontation that would inevitably follow. But he moves not merely for the sake of expediency; he moves because it is God’s will.

John (The Glory is Revealed Among the Despised: A Samaritan Woman (4:1–42))
He only does God’s will, and it is God’s will not only that he avoid the Pharisees but also that he meet this Samaritan woman. Jesus had to go through Samaria (4:4).
There is no geographical necessity for going through Samaria. The necessity is due to God’s plan, The Father was sending him there to look for those who would worship him in spirit and truth (4:23).
John The Glory is Revealed Among the Despised: A Samaritan Woman (4:1–42)

At noon Jesus stops to rest outside of Sychar and sends his disciples into town for food. It was the hottest time of day, not the best time to be traveling and a very unusual time for a woman to fetch water. The fact that it was noon may highlight both Jesus’ desire to avoid the Pharisees and the woman’s desire to avoid her neighbors, who would come to draw water at cooler periods of the day. Since she had had six of the men of the village, the other women would have little love for her. Her immorality is well known to the villagers (4:29), as one would expect.

John (The Glory is Revealed Among the Despised: A Samaritan Woman (4:1–42))
As she comes to draw water Jesus initiates the conversation, The woman is shocked that he, a Jew, would speak to her, a Samaritan woman (4:9). The Samaritans were held in contempt as religious apostates who had mixed the purity of Israel’s worship with idolatry and the worship of pagan gods
2 Kings 17:24–41 NLT
24 The king of Assyria transported groups of people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim and resettled them in the towns of Samaria, replacing the people of Israel. They took possession of Samaria and lived in its towns. 25 But since these foreign settlers did not worship the Lord when they first arrived, the Lord sent lions among them, which killed some of them. 26 So a message was sent to the king of Assyria: “The people you have sent to live in the towns of Samaria do not know the religious customs of the God of the land. He has sent lions among them to destroy them because they have not worshiped him correctly.” 27 The king of Assyria then commanded, “Send one of the exiled priests back to Samaria. Let him live there and teach the new residents the religious customs of the God of the land.” 28 So one of the priests who had been exiled from Samaria returned to Bethel and taught the new residents how to worship the Lord. 29 But these various groups of foreigners also continued to worship their own gods. In town after town where they lived, they placed their idols at the pagan shrines that the people of Samaria had built. 30 Those from Babylon worshiped idols of their god Succoth-benoth. Those from Cuthah worshiped their god Nergal. And those from Hamath worshiped Ashima. 31 The Avvites worshiped their gods Nibhaz and Tartak. And the people from Sepharvaim even burned their own children as sacrifices to their gods Adrammelech and Anammelech. 32 These new residents worshiped the Lord, but they also appointed from among themselves all sorts of people as priests to offer sacrifices at their places of worship. 33 And though they worshiped the Lord, they continued to follow their own gods according to the religious customs of the nations from which they came. 34 And this is still going on today. They continue to follow their former practices instead of truly worshiping the Lord and obeying the decrees, regulations, instructions, and commands he gave the descendants of Jacob, whose name he changed to Israel. 35 For the Lord had made a covenant with the descendants of Jacob and commanded them: “Do not worship any other gods or bow before them or serve them or offer sacrifices to them. 36 But worship only the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt with great strength and a powerful arm. Bow down to him alone, and offer sacrifices only to him. 37 Be careful at all times to obey the decrees, regulations, instructions, and commands that he wrote for you. You must not worship other gods. 38 Do not forget the covenant I made with you, and do not worship other gods. 39 You must worship only the Lord your God. He is the one who will rescue you from all your enemies.” 40 But the people would not listen and continued to follow their former practices. 41 So while these new residents worshiped the Lord, they also worshiped their idols. And to this day their descendants do the same.
Samaritan’s have similarities to modern day American Christians:
We Love Us Some Jesus:
But we Love our zodiac sign to…
We be worshiping us Some Jesus but we worship Ray-Ray and June bug 2
And Yet Jesus has purpose for us 2
For Jesus to have dealings with this woman was to risk ritual defilement
John 4:9 NLT
9 The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”
#1. The ritual impurity of the person was thought to pass to whatever he or she had contact with, like spiritual germs. There is thus an enormous religious barrier between this woman and Jesus, the first of several barriers.
Jesus takes the initiative and will keep at it until all of the barriers are dealt with.
Have you ever thought about what are the barriers that keep you from Serving or Living for Jesus like you should?
I am here to tell you that God sent you here on Purpose to confront Every Barrier.. Just like that women at the well.
Barrier #2 hatred and alienation
This is not accepted by the Son..
And If Christ didn’t except this behavior towards an adulteress Women.
He’s not going to except modern day Christians alienating gays, drug addicts & Mental health patients..
Barrier #3 She Thought having a man was going to satisfy her Thirst.
She Had 6 Men, But now she meet the 7th

If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water

She had 6 men and still wasn’t complete… But Ohh she was about to drink from the well that never runs dry… Living Water
Barrier #4 She’s in ignorance of the one they worship
John (The Glory is Revealed Among the Despised: A Samaritan Woman (4:1–42))
But the one they are desiring to worship wants their worship and comes to them, revealing himself and bringing salvation. Like the world (3:16–18), the Samaritans are worthy of condemnation and yet are loved
God is Looking For The true worshiper in you..
Can you stop what you doing and Worship The Lord With All Got??

Barrier #5. God’s Will @ the Well

John The Glory is Revealed Among the Despised: A Samaritan Woman (4:1–42)

The woman has asked Jesus a question, and he replies with another of his cryptic sayings: If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water

John 4:12 TPT
12 Do you really think that you are greater than our ancestor Jacob who dug this well and drank from it himself, along with his children and livestock?”
She Didn’t Know there was no one greater than Jesus..
first Jesus Says..

“Give me a drink of water.

The “water” Jesus wanted was the refreshing, satisfying pleasure of her devotion. He says to each one of us, “Nothing satisfies me except you.”

“If you only knew who I am and the gift that God wants to give you—you’d ask me for a drink, and I would give to you living water.”

“If you drink from Jacob’s well you’ll be thirsty again and again, 14 but if anyone drinks the living water I give them, they will never thirst again and will be forever satisfied! For when you drink the water I give you it becomes a gushing fountain of the Holy Spirit, springing up and flooding you with endless life!”

And ALL That was great and inspiring to most of us, and I am sure home girl was intrigued
But the Shift didn’t come until he said this

“Go get your husband and bring him back here.”

and she said

17 “But I’m not married,”

And thennnnn He done Did the dag on thing
The Passion Translation: New Testament (Chapter 4)
“That’s true,” Jesus said, 18 “for you’ve been married five times and now you’re living with a man who is not your husband. You have told the truth.”
Tell Somebody All the BARRIERS ARE GONE
HE GOT HER UNDIVIDED ATTENTION....
I wonder what it was that Jesus said or did that got your attention
As for Me, I was guilty and deserved to die a sinners death. I was young and Dumb.. And Like Laz he called me out the tombs.. Cocaine, Alcohol, Newports, Poverty, depression and generational cures had to release me… And i said God you got my attention..
This same shameful women had an encounter at the well, Left her watering pot and went into town and evangelized the men of the town.
Next Stop Purpose..... The question is what does leaving the waterpot represent?

The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

Last Point Next Stop Purpose:
John 4:30–32 AV
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. 31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. 32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
