Cessationism is a doctrine that spiritual gifts such as speaking in tongues, prophecy and healing ceased with the Apostolic Age. Reformers such as John Calvin originated this view.
In Scripture, the Spirit transforms God’s people.
In later biblical passages, the Spirit appears as a distinct divine person.
Jesus uses the “He,” a masculine pronoun, because He refers to the Spirit with the masculine noun παράκλητος (paraklētos, “counselor,” “advocate”). Elsewhere, the Bible typically uses feminine and neuter pronouns for the Spirit—the Hebrew word for “Spirit,” רוּחַ (ruach), is feminine, and the Greek equivalent, πνεῦμα (pneuma), is neuter. This is merely a grammatical marker—it is not meant to indicate the Spirit’s gender.
Our spirit and the Lords spirit has been united.
These two verses go together and was a fulfilment of God bringing the gospel to other languages.
These tongue is different from the tongues that we speak in Church.
These tongues was part of prophecy fulfilled that the gospel must reach every nation.
The act of speaking a language one did not acquire by natural means. This often related to either divine revelation or worship. The language may or not be intelligible by another human.
GLOSSOLALIA Refers to the spiritual gift of speaking in tongues, especially speaking in a language that one has not learned in order to present the gospel to those who speak the language.
All forms of our prayer must be in the spirit.
Tongue is for the edification of the body.
Tongue is a gift of edification to the church.
We recognize that when we pray in tongue we pray in the spirit.
The Body of Christ is a matter absolutely in spirit, in our human spirit. In order to see the Body, we need a spirit of wisdom and revelation. The building up of the church is also in spirit. Furthermore, in order to be strengthened into the inner man, we need to be in spirit. We need to be renewed in the spirit of our mind, and we need to pray in spirit. Through the exercise of our spirit we will be filled unto all the fullness of God to produce the church life.

We discover when we pray in a tongue we pray in the spirit. Pray in our understanding your prayer and the words go out quickly.
A tongue must be interpreted.
The spiritual gift is for the benefit of others and the build up for the body. Your tongue is for the build up for the body.
Building us up in our most holy faith is increasing us in the knowledge and the love of God.
Praying in the spirit is to receiving what God has given you and direction that he has for you.
1 Cor 2:10 “these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.”
The divine revelation of God’s will become clear and the direction of God.
If we talking about speaking in tongues it is not for your personal need only but for the building up of the body of Christ.
Jude speaks about our relationship and believe inChrist as a believer.
When we pray in tongues we contend for the faith.
When we pray in the spirit we are those who are united in the body.
When you praying in tongues your desire is to see the spirit as one.
Our prayers in the spirit must unite us not divide us.
Every gift is for the edification of the body then for you.
