Hello everyone!
Hows everyone doing today?
My name is Harrison and I am the youth pastor here at the quarry church.
Did ya’ll have fun last week hanging out with your groups?
I heard people went kayaking, I heard some of ya’ll won mustaches and shredded in guitar hero.
Sounds like some of you even lied about your bowling scores.
Cmon ya’ll.
No, I’m just playing with you guys.
It’s great to be back today, whether you are new to QSM or have been coming for 65 million years, we are grateful you are here and excited to see what God has spoken in his Word.
First things First, who here has siblings?
I grew up with 4 siblings, anyone in here have more than 4 brothers and sisters?
Well, here is my family, and these are all of the children that I grew up with.
My family was and still is awesome, however, there are some challenges with having brothers and sisters.
Does anyone like getting into arguments?
Anyone got a sibling that likes getting into arguments?
When I was growing up, we would get into arguments all the time.
For some reason, when your a kid the number one thing you fight about is who gets the front seat on car rides.
Like really?
Whats so fun about the front seat?
Anyways, this one particular Sunday in the church parking lot, my brother and I were in a pushing war over who gets the front seat.
You know, like one of you is yanking on the car door and your like trying to karate chop your brothers arm off.
Anyways, my dad goes hey! Enough!
Starting today, the oldest always gets the front seat.
And just like that, My evil little brother never saw the front seat of that car ever again.
No but seriously, any time my little brothers tried to steal the front seat from me, any time my little brother would argue with me that it was his turn for the front seat, how would I win the argument?
Dad said!
Yeah, I was that kid.
Well dad said the oldest should have the front seat.
Dad said.
Anyone ever use that argument before, well mom said, or, well dad said?
If you ever say, mom said, it’s like an automatic win in the argument.
It’s funny, as kids who do you have to listen to, who are you obligated to listen to?
Mom and Dad.
They have the most authority, they pay for the house, they bought the xbox you play Minecraft on, they pay for the phone that you watch tik-toks on.
But not only that, they give you guidance.
You’re like, parent, can you teach me how to ride a bike? and they show you how to ride a bike.
They show you how to tie your shoes, they show you how to drive a car.
Parents give us guidance.
I want us to think for a second, and shout it out if you know the answer, as human beings, who is the person that all of us must listen to for guidance.
God.
The person with the most authority in the universe, the person who allows us to live.
God.
We go to God for guidance because he’s the boss.
Just like your parents are the boss of the house, God is the boss of the universe.
Has God Spoken to Us?
Now, here’s the thing.
Parents speak to us.
Sometimes they speak too much.
Here’s the question of the day.
Has God Spoken to us?
Get out your bibles.
We will be turning to 2 Timothy 3:16.
First one there, let me know.
Maybe your new and you didn’t know to bring a bible, you can go on your phone and download the YouVersion bible app.
And you can have a bible on your phone.
here we go,
2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
All scripture is breathed out by GOD....
First question, when i say scripture what is the first thing that comes to your head?
Did any of you think of the bible?
Yeah! Yeah you’d be right.
Our bibles are ancient scripture translated into modern day English.
Second question, who did the bible originate from?
God!
The entire bible, not just like a little bit of it, but the entire bible, 100% was breathed out by God.
100% of the bible was spoken from Gods mouth, was literally breathed out and given life by God.
All of it.
Third question, does the bible have any flaws?
Is the bible imperfect?
No! If God is 100% perfect, why would he write a books that has errors?
Since God is perfect, the bible is perfect.
If anyone tells you, the bibles not perfect because it was written by a bunch of humans, what are going to say? You’re gonna say No! 2 Timothy 3:16 says that the bible was breathed out by a perfect God, not a bunch of humans.
All scripture is breathed out by GOD and profitable....
Someone say Profitable.
When you hear the word profitable what do you think?
When I think of profitable, I think of something that is beneficial, or useful.
For example, does anyone here play sports?
Is listening to your coach profitable?
Yes! Why, because they are going to make you into a great soccer player.
What about teachers.
Does anyone here like to learn?
Is it beneficial to listen to your math teacher?
I know all of us want to say no, but yes.
Why, because listening to the math teacher is going to help us be a good student.
Now, who thinks the bible profitable?
Is the bible useful?
Why?
All scripture is breathed out by GOD and profitable....that the man of God may be complete
You want to be complete.
You want to live a life that counts?
Well guess what, this book has everything you need in it to live a life that actually has meaning.
You want your life to count, it’s all in this book.
The only way to actually be complete and satisfied is to live by this book and nothing else.
This is called.....
Scripture Alone = God spoke, I follow what God spoke and nothing else
Someone say scripture alone.
This means, God spoke life into a book, I base my entire life off of what that book says and nothing else.
That means if your little cousin johnny comes up to you and says the meaning of life is to worship the aliens, what are you gonna say?
No johnny, thats not what God says.
