It is absolutely wonderful.
I remember my baptism, it was influential, it was formative and I hope that this time for Hayden and Ezra is a formative moment that they remember that encourages the lifetime of faithfulness to God, if you would bow your head in prayer with me.

I imagine that all of you have families and what families do now and then is they eat together?
And I don't know how you feel about eating as a family.
Sometimes.
It's a good experience.
Sometimes it's a negative experience my family on Sundays.
They would invite over a family.
Someone we didn't know and then my father would proceed to pray and the man that everyone held hands.
It was not my favorite moment.
What was so funny was that no matter where anyone was in the house?
Everybody came very quickly when the food was ready.
Cuz there's a funny thing about food.
It has a tendency to draw us together whenever we eat together.
There's something that happens in the fellowship.
Something that happens in community and there's something very special that happens.
We come together as the body of Christ to eat at the table of our Lord and Savior Jesus.
We all have expectations of these family.
Gatherings, sometimes our friendly siblings parents, say fun things, like Maple Maple.
If you're able, keep your elbows off the table.
Sometimes they annoyed, sometimes we enjoy them but there is a potential for the family gathering to do something good and be a unifying interaction, but they are not always.
Unfortunately, some of us to have negative family meals.
We have dread when we hear that.
The family is gathering together.
And that is the occasion to which Paul is speaking in 1st, Corinthians, 11:17 to 34.

But in the following instructions, I do not commend you because when you come together, it is not for the better.
But for the worse for the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you and I believe it in part 4.
There must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized, when you come together.
It is not the Lord's.
Supper that you eat for an eating.
Each one goes ahead with his own meal.
One goes hungry, another get too drunk.
What do you not have houses to eat and drink it?
Or do you despise the Church of God and humiliate those who have nothing?
What.
Shall I say to you? Shall I commend you in this?
No, I will not fry Reese's.

But I also delivered to you that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed to Fred.

Truly we would not be judged, but when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.
So then my brothers, would you come together to eat? Wait for one another if anyone is hungry at home.
So that when you come together, it will not be for judgment about the other things.

I have split this passage into four parts, starting with the problem that Paul is addressing the problem and verses 17 through 22.
And then vs23, 226 the pattern laid forth by Christ verses 27 to 30 to the punishment and vs 34 to 30, 32 34, rather, the potential desire is for Unity in the church.
And sadly this is not what's happening.
This is not the situation.
He is writing to He says in verse 17, but in the following structions, I do not come into you, this stands out because just previously in this chapter verse 2, he says I do commend you last week, Pastor been talked about the Commendation for the church, the stands out because Paul is very willing to encourage and uplift the body.
He is not just a Negative Nancy, He is wanting to critique the things that are wrong and wanting to encourage the things that are good.
We might ask, why is Paul not commending them?
And we find the answer.
Begins and the second part of first 17, because when we come to, when you come together is not for the better or for the worse.
That means it's just hits me when you come together.
It's not for the better.
It's for the worst, the body of Christ coming together isn't building up.
It's actually doing the exact opposite.
This struck me during my study and it hits me every time I read it cuz I wonder when we come together, is it for the better or is it for the worse?
Are we building up or are we tearing down?
He goes on for in the first place when you come together as a church.
I hear that there are divisions among you and I believe it in part for the must be factions among you that those who are genuine.
Maybe scene is true.
Paul could be sarcastic saying that there must be factions.
Or he could be literally saying, there must be divisions to display who is true and who is false.
I take it more as full as literally saying that when there are divisions, all those divisions are not good.
It shows who is true to what he has commanded of them.
And he tells them when you come together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat.
And I think the question must be asked, is it?
Because you're not taking the Lord's?
Supper there be a valid critique, if they weren't taking the Lord's.
Supper.
Where are they taking the Lord's supper, and they're doing things that are disqualifying, what they're saying.
