Psalm 96:1-13

If we consider and believe that we are truly dead in our trespasses and sins and that we can do nothing without Jesus, then this Psalm will be of some inspiration for us!
Recapturing for us the triumphant entry of the Ark of the Covenant, the writer, revisits 1 Chronicles 16.
The writer declares the peoples praise and joy for their deliverance and the return of the Ark which means that worship is restored and sacrifices are restored!
The writer even speaks of creation excited anticipation of this as Paul spoke of in Romans 8:19 “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”
When we come to know Jesus as the Christ the Son of the Living God.....it is an pretty close replica of what is going on here.......the relationship between God and man has been restored and God’s reign will be forever!
Jesus truly makes all things new......So, it truly is a new song......what gave me joy before was superficial and temporary.....that joy was hanging on by a thread.......but the joy I have now is eternal!!
All the earth will sing this song one day, whether they believed God here or not!!!
Proclaim good tidings of His salvation.......I thought of what we read Wed. night of the disciples rejoicing when they saw Jesus’ hands and side.....
John 20:19-20 “Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.”
Has the salvation gifted to us through Jesus Christ......Romans 5:17 “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)” .......has that created a joy in you and prompting to declare this news from day to day>???
Tell of His glory.....His wonderful deeds.........Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: And the government shall be upon his shoulder: And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
To the believer Jesus is all these things, to the world He is all these things, if they believe!
Great is Jehovah Jireh our Provider!! So great that the praise of Him shall be great!!
To the highest point of praise.......this gets construed sometimes!
What can a high measure of praise? Sound a roar??? This praise doesn’t have to be outward defined, it could be an inward elation that will produce an outward substance!
The things that people do to try to live worldly.......When the ark was brought back to Jerusalem and David danced before the Lord, so much so, that his clothes fell off.
His wife chided or mocked him for that, but listen to what one guy asked me and he was teaching at the time........Does this means we are supposed to dance naked?????
Totally disregarding the heart of David, his clothes fell off in the midst of his elation, his heart of gladness was the cause of his dancing!
We try to place physical definitions to a spiritual relationship!
Ephesians 5:18-19 “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”
The idea of the Psalmist that our praise be as God is feared, above all the “gods” (idols)
The Lord made everything the idols are inanimate objects!
Honor and Majesty are before the Lord......Charles Spurgeon wrote: “In the presence of Jehovah real glory and sovereignty abide, as constant attendants. “Strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.” In him are combined all that is mighty and lovely, powerful and resplendent. We have seen rugged strength devoid of beauty, we have also seen elegance without strength; the union of the two is greatly to be admired. Do we desire to see the “sublime and beautiful” at one glance? Then we must look to the eternal throne.”
Give unto the Lord.....a lot of commentators translate the Greek word “Ascribe” which is the same a give, so it is a mute point........
Ascribe unto the Lord glory unto His Name” (ver. 8). Not unto the name of man, not unto your own name, but unto His ascribe worship.… Confession is a present unto God. O heathen, if ye will enter into His courts, enter not empty. “Bring presents.” What presents shall we bring with us? The sacrifice of God is a troubled spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, “O God, shalt not Thou despise.” Enter with an humble heart into the house of God, and thou hast entered with a present...............Rejoice, because ye have entered into the courts; rejoice, because ye are being built into the temple of God. For those who enter are themselves built up, they themselves are the house of God: He is the inhabitor, for whom the house is built over the whole world, and this “after the captivity.” “Bring presents, and come into His courts.”
Give unto the Lord....what is due Him.......not corruptible things.....but precious as jewels is the soul of man........the confession of the soul that is no longer I that lives but Christ lives in me!
Give the glory and honor that is due Him.......our boasting of the Lord or dependence on the Lord!!!
Bring our offerings, what we bring now is our faith in the Son of God Who loved me and gave Himself for me!
Worship in beauty that can only be “holiness”.....holy ornaments such as the high priest wore....
Charles Spurgeon said also: “O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” This is the only beauty which he cares for in our public services, and it is one for which no other can compensate. Beauty of architecture and apparel he does not regard; moral and spiritual beauty is that in which his soul delighteth. Worship must not be rendered to God in a slovenly, sinful, superficial manner; we must be reverent, sincere, earnest, and pure in heart both in our prayers and praises. Purity is the white linen of the Lord’s choristers, righteousness is the comely garment of his priests, holiness is the royal apparel of his servitors. “Fear before him, all the earth.” “Tremble” is the word in the original, and it expresses the profoundest awe, just as the word “worship” does, which would be more accurately translated by “bow down.” Even the bodily frame would be moved to trembling and prostration if men were thoroughly conscious of the power and glory of Jehovah. Men of the world ridiculed “the Quakers” for trembling when under the power of the Holy Spirit; had they been able to discern the majesty of the Eternal they would have quaked also. There is a sacred trembling which is quite consistent with joy, the heart may even quiver with an awful excess of delight. The sight of the King in his beauty caused no alarm to John in Patmos, and yet it made him fall at his feet as dead. Oh, to behold him and worship him with prostrate awe and sacred fear!”
Matthew 9:13 “But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Jesus was quoting Hosea 6:6.............Jesus used this toward the Pharisees who tended to focus on the outward, ritual, and ceremonial aspects of God’s law and they neglected the inward, eternal, and moral precepts.....
In doing so they became harsh, judgmental, and self-righteous......These are definite not gifts they God desires........He desires the humble, contrite or broken spirit!
Tell the worldly followers that it is the Lord that reigns not them or anything else..........He will judge the world.....
The world will not be moved.....this seems to lead us to the millennial reign of Christ....where Chrost rules the earth and everything is turned on its head and morality, holiness, and worship of God is restored rightly and even creation is changed from its evil nature and becomes harmless to one another and to humans.....
Creation longs for the coming of Christ.........He judges the world based on the righteousness of God and His truth! Not whatever you say truth is.....that is why it is a must that we rightly divide the Word of Truth, because in that day, judgement is not based on our standard but God’s!
We can’t make up a standard or take anything lightly we must take God’s Word and seek it with all our heart....what He says not what I want to hear!
Romans 8:19 “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”
