Key West- KEY DEER
The means of William Cowper’s Conversion:
In late October of 1763 Cowper was sent to St. Alban’s Asylum. By December he would come under the care of Dr. Nathaniel Cotton. He, an evangelist and lover of God, recognized the spiritual needs of Cowper, constantly persuading William that he was not hopeless or damned.
At St. Albans a relative visiting Cowper, sought to tell him of Jesus’ power to save. Cowper burst into tears, saying, “It is the first that I have seen a ray of hope.” Six months into his stay, Cowper reported, “Having found a Bible on the bench in the garden, I opened upon the 11th of St. John, where Lazarus is raised from the dead; and saw so much benevolence, mercy, goodness, and sympathy with miserable men, in our Saviour's conduct, that I almost shed tears upon the relation; little thinking that it was an exact type of the mercy which Jesus was on the point of extending towards myself. I sighed, and said, "Oh, that I had not rejected so good a Redeemer, that I had not forfeited all his favours."
Increasingly, gospel light warmed his heart with hope. Then, a few days later, Cowper found the Gospel of Romans, chapter three and verse twenty-five, which reads, “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.” There was a fountain of blood filled at Calvary, which coursed its blessed path into the garden of St. Alban’s!
The means of Martin Luther’s conversion
This epistle is really the chief part of the New Testament, and is truly the purest gospel. It is worthy not only that every Christian should know it word for word, by heart, but also that he should occupy himself with it every day, as the daily bread of the soul. We can never read it or ponder over it too much; for the more we deal with it, the more precious it becomes and the better it tastes.
~Martin Luther~

Romans 5:8 KJV 1900
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:9 KJV 1900
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:13 KJV 1900
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
