Introduction

Acts 28:11-16

Acts 28:11–16 CSB
11 After three months we set sail in an Alexandrian ship that had wintered at the island, with the Twin Gods as its figurehead. 12 Putting in at Syracuse, we stayed three days. 13 From there, after making a circuit along the coast, we reached Rhegium. After one day a south wind sprang up, and the second day we came to Puteoli. 14 There we found brothers and sisters and were invited to stay a week with them. And so we came to Rome. 15 Now the brothers and sisters from there had heard the news about us and had come to meet us as far as the Forum of Appius and the Three Taverns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage. 16 When we entered Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself with the soldier who guarded him.

What a Journey. What an incredible Journey.
Born a Roman citizen but he has never seen the great city itself the capital. The Empires Washington DC. The city having over a million people at the time and the seat of domination for two millennia. Paul first set his Heart on visiting Rome he mentions it in Romans 1:10
Romans 1:10 LEB
10 always asking in my prayers if somehow now at last I may succeed to come to you in the will of God.
Which he wrote about ad 56. So he has been desiring Visiting the capital for some time. This may have been a lifelong dream of his we don’t know. We do know however that Paul wrote about visiting and then as Paul is nearing 60 he arrives as a prisoner. Not the way he wanted to get there but that’s the way he Got there.
Paul has been desiring to Go. God promises that he will get there and He does.
There is something special about this. Paul is confident in God’s ability to see him through to arrive in Rome. Paul has a goal a Goal that God has given him. Because Paul is in relationship with HaShem. And when we are in relationship with God because of the Holy Spirits indwelling. God’s Goals for our lives become our Goals for our lives. One way to Evaluate your relationship with God is to evaluate your Goals. Why do I want this goal met. Where does this Goal Come from.
But I think a lot of time in our life we forget our Goal or we fail to set them. \Even though God wants us to have goals we are content just living day to day and forget about any kind of movement in our lives. And when we fail to set Goals then we don’t Go anywhere, Not just talking Physically here. Need goals in all areas of our lives so that we become the people God wants us to Do and Do the things he wants us to accomplish.

What are the Goals in My life?

Paul had some very obvious Goals. His goals included Going to Rome. Sharing the Love and truth of Jesus where ever he could. Raising up disciples such as timothy, and Apollos. Wanting to see the Word of God spread throughout the known world. Paul probably had more goals. We know that he was a writer and a teacher. He had some kind of thorn in the side that he wrestled with whatever it was. But he had goals for his life that God placed there for Him to accomplish.
I know in my own life God has seen me through almost all of the goals that he has given me so far in my life I say almost not because God hasn’t seen me through them but just because I am young and still have Goals that I am in the process of Completing and will be for some years to come. Goals like Getting a masters in Theology, Preaching and Teaching, Sharing the Love and truth of Jesus, Getting married. Still working on the debt free one.
God Gives you Goals.
What are your Goal?
Where are you in your life and where Do you want to be?
If you are in Christ and the Holy Spirit is in you. When You are in relationship then those Goals will be of God. But evaluate them and See what is the motivation. Be specific about what you want. I plan on witnessing to x amount of people not just I want to witness. Be specific.
Ask God to help you.
Just because he gave you a goal doesn’t mean you can do it on your own. Pray your Goals. Don’t be afraid to ask God to see you through and get you through on your journey.
What are the Goals and what steps Do I need to take to reach them. If we are not planning to reach our goals then we are planning on not reaching them. Small steps is the key. Along with this what are the barriers.
What things will you have to overcome?
Fear
Habit
Family
Coworker
Whatever
I never plan a run without knowing where my hills are and what I am going to have to do in order to over come them.
Be patient and persistent. Goals take time to reach Move towards them and don’t give up. And don’t forget them

Next Steps

What are your goals?
One of my goals is if you don’t know Christ that you will see him and come to know him today. Maybe one of your goals is to step out and admit that you are a sinner and are in need of forgiveness from the punishment of your sin.
Evaluate your life.
What are your Goals are you pressing for them.
How can others help.
John Maxwell if you're not growing you're not going to make it you hit all the goals you want but if you're not growing you're not going to last. Goals are about habit.
Share your goals and habits with someone today!
