Romans 1:18–20 ESV
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
Faith in God is not blind faith; it is based on the fact of God’s existence seen clearly through creation.
I don’t have enough faith to say that creation happened by chance.
Its like taking a 100 piece puzzle and throwing it down is it going to become a complete puzzle when it hits the ground. No one would believe that.
This is how you prove His existence:
When I look at a building, how do I know that there was a builder?
I can’t see him, hear him, touch, taste, or smell him. Of course, the building is proof that there was a builder.
In fact, I couldn’t want better evidence that there was a builder than to have the building in front of me.
I don’t need faith to know that there was a builder. All I need is eyes that can see and a brain that works.
Likewise, when I look at a painting, how can I know that there was a painter?
Again, the painting is proof positive that there was painter. I don’t need faith to believe in a painter because I can see the clear evidence.
Conclusion: The same principle applies with the existence of God. When I look at creation, how can I know that there was a Creator?
I can’t see Him, hear Him, touch Him, taste Him, or smell Him. How can I know that He exists? Why, creation shows me that there is Creator.
I couldn’t want better proof that a Creator exists than to have the creation in front of me. I don’t need faith to believe in a Creator;
all I need is eyes that can see and a brain that works:
For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.
This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being. Sir Isaac Newton
Natural Revelation is sufficient to make us responsible but not for salvation.
General revelation but not specific revelation
Romans 1:21–26 ESV
21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;
Romans 1:27–28 ESV
27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Suppress the truth
Ignore Revelation
Deny Glory - deny the glory that is due God
Become unthankful
Then we make a exchange.
Brokenness in Worship: Then we begin to worship the wrong things. Every human worships. If it’s other than the true God it is called Idolatry.
In our culture we might not bow down to a statue but in a secular culture we worship ourselves. We worship money. We worship sports. We worship sex. The list is endless....... Something has to take that place.
This talks about a brokenness in worship
Our brokenness in worship leads to a brokenness in our nature. Human nature and our identity. Gender confusion isn’t a the problem its a symptom of the problem. We have a worship issue.
So we suppress the truth, ignore revelation, we become unthankful and then the exchange takes place were God gives us over to our unhealthy desires. Vile passions.
Paul was writing this letter in the midst of a culture that was plunged into sexual immorality. Temple prostitutes
LGBTQ - First the scripture is clear. There are some gray areas in scripture that can be taken in different ways.
Florida Bill "Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards."
it's meant to allow parents to determine when and in what way to introduce LGBTQ topics to their children. It also gives parents an option to sue a school district if the policy is violated.
The Walt Disney Company, lambasted Florida lawmakers for the legislation.
"Florida's HB 1557, also known as the 'Don't Say Gay' bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law," the statement read. "Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that."
Canada's Supreme Court rules LGBT rights trump religious freedom
Canada's top court has ruled in favour of denying accreditation to a Christian law school that banned students from having gay sex.
Ontario, British Columbia and Nova Scotia law societies denied the school accreditation, on the grounds that it required all students to sign a covenant binding them to a code of conduct which banned sex outside the confines of heterosexual marriage.
Pride month which is whole month set aside to celebrate a life style that God defines as sin.
Its a downward spiral…the next thing will be you can Mary multiple people, then pedophilia then who know what else. Bestiality… In Europe it been 20 years now the legal age to have sex is 13.
Homosexuals argue that they did not make a conscious decision to be that way, so it must be natural.
People are born lots of ways. We are born with a lot of things that are bad. Some are born with a propensities towards violence. That’s not justification to live that way.
They are born that way just as all of us are born with a sin nature and sinful desires (Ephesians 2:1–3).
Ephesians 2:1–3 ESV
1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
Tell them that it is natural for them, and for all of us, to be tempted to do things that God says are wrong.
In the same way, pedophiles and adulterers (alcoholics, drug addicts, etc.) don’t make a conscious decision to choose that self-destructive lifestyle; they simply give in to their sinful desires.
However, although sin is natural for unbelievers, that doesn’t mean God wants them to remain that way.
God can set them free from their sinful nature
Romans 7:23 ESV
23 but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.
give them new desires
Ephesians 4:22–24 ESV
22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
and help them withstand temptations (1 Corinthians 10:13).
1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV
13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
