Psalm 47:5-9
     *5*     God has ascended with a shout,
The Lord, with the sound of a trumpet.
6     Sing praises to God, sing praises;
Sing praises to our King, sing praises.
7     For God is the King of all the earth;
Sing praises with a skillful psalm.
8     God reigns over the nations,
God sits on His holy throne.
9     The princes of the people have assembled themselves /as /the people of the God of Abraham,
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
He is highly exalted.
God is sovereign over all His creation whether or not His creation believes it.
For us these words I just read are a promise of eternal praise and adoration.
For those who are perishing, they are a threat of judgement.
But we have been given a special place.
We are a new creation, made for the purpose of worshipping a holy and righteous God.
When asked what the greatest commandment was, Jesus responded in Matthew 22:37-40
  ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
“This is the great and foremost commandment.
“The second is like it, ‘*You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’*
“On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”
