updating

we are called to be holy

we are living stones that make up the church

abstain from fleshly desires, maintaining a good conduct

submit to authority

follow in the foot steps of Jesus

3-17 suffer for doing good

if God wills it

the suffering Church is to be Christ like

is to remember who we are

be the best citizens, unless told to go against God’s word

this is where we pick it up today

Satan’s Corruption Of Man

Satan hates mankind an wants to destroy him completely

Genesis 3 1-7 the fall

Genesis 3 14-15 the curse of satan

One of her offspring will be his downfall

a deliverer will come from her seed

Soo Satan and his demons concocted a plan to destroy humanity

to make humans not human by corrupting the dna

Genesis 6 1-13 by some of the fallen angels leaving their bodies and taking on human bodies and making a new species of humanoid

this mission of the angels was a suicide mission

they knew the punishment

but were willing to take the risk

just like the Muslim suicide missions for a great reward

And the angels who did not keep to their own domain but deserted their proper dwelling place, he has kept in eternal bonds under deep gloom for the judgment of the great day, as Sodom and Gomorrah and the towns around them indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire in the same way as these, are exhibited as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

God brought a flood and started over with Noah and his family

Because he was perfect in his generation

he was not corrupted- he was fully human

this is the backdrop of the next few verses

The Suffering Christ

Jesus the seed of Mary is on the earth

the satanic rebellion has been squelched

the redeemer suffered and died

the redeemer the perfect man-God was the substitute for sin

Jesus was the the one who could bring man back to God

1 Peter 3 18

V 19 - 20 who went to prison, 2 Peter Tartarus, Jude deep gloom

Tartarus as a Place

As a place, it was far below than where Hades resided and it was used as the most horrible prison.

Some accounts say that the distance between Tartarus and Hades was the same as between the earth and the heaven.

Although the kingdom of Hades was the place of the dead, Tartarus was where ferocious monsters and horrible criminals were banished, or where the gods imprisoned their rivals after a war.

These angels were imprisoned there

these angels knew they would if they did this thing

but were hoping that thy would win in the end

and would be set free by satan

So after Jesus death for the redemption of souls he goes to this prison

and proclaims victory

God’s Rescue

V 20 God’s bringing Noah and his family through the flood waters

V 21 we were saved through the baptism

the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the saving baptism

V 21 through the resurrection

Through the power of the resurrection the first fruits of the rest of us

now Jesus sits in Heaven

Triumphant

V 22 Sitting on the throne of the Father, the place of honor

as the reigning king of the universe

Jesus suffered and died to bring us salvation

Jesus suffered and died to put down satan and his angels

Jesus suffered so we do not have to

and He overcame

v 22 over all principalities and powers

Jesus has given us the example

Jesus has conquered over sin and death

Jesus has conqurerd over the the demon world
