Outline 1
Bible Text : Matthew 7:16-18 “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.”
One Teaching Idea: (1 Sentence or Less)
Fruit is a metaphor for both character and conduct. Jesus’ followers would be able to detect false prophets by the way they act. In the Old Testament there were tests for a true prophet. The law found in Deuteronomy 13:1–5 required a prophet to be put to death if he promoted rebellion against God

Personal Story: When a woman is pregnant, over time, it’s going to show. Early on, it may not be clear to others. There will be things happening inside of her—changes hormonally, changes with regard to taste, and changes with regard to various habits. But if the changes are happening inside, they’re going to show up after awhile outside of her too. Many of God’s so-called children aren’t pregnant with His love, because the changes aren’t showing.
