Let’s Get Started
After revealing the Church Age, the Tribulation Period, and the Millennium,
John focused on one last time period that most commentators call “eternity.”
God will create a new world that John compares to the original creation.
The Almighty will create a new city that John compares to Jerusalem and Babylon.
Get ready to see some of these comparisons.
I. New Heaven and New Earth

1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.
Isaiah predicted a new earth
17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.
22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord, “So shall your descendants and your name remain.
2. Jesus said heaven and earth will pass away
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
3. Peter said the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the
earth will be burned up (2 Peter 3:10–13).
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
4. Here John glimpsed a new heaven and a new earth, but they will be
different from the original creation when God divided the
waters to create seas and cause the dry land to appear
(Genesis 1:9–10).
9 Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.
The new earth will not have a sea on it. Bible experts believe there will no longer be large bodies of water to allow for (1) more room for people, and (2) to change the climate, reduce storms, and eliminate social barriers.
The Seal, Trumpet, and Bowl Judgments will cause ships to sink and water to turn to blood, but such disasters can’t exist in the new creation. Neither can floods, tsunamis, hurricanes, and mudslides.
And there won’t be a Lake of Fire for unbelievers. “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them” (Revelation 20:11 NKJV).
John Hagee - This world will not continue forever. The Second Law of Thermodynamics, otherwise known as the Law of Entropy, declares that all organized systems tend to disorder after time. Like all things, the earth, along with this physical universe, will wear out.
II. A New Jerusalem
II. A New Jerusalem
2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
In the original creation, God put Adam in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:8), but in the new creation God will put his Church in a special city called New Jerusalem.
This city will not be like ancient Jerusalem or Babylon that housed sinners.
This will be a Holy City. This city is not heaven. It will come down out of heaven.
This city is not the whole creation or the whole new earth. It’s just one part or one city that will come down to the new earth.
Just as Babylon was the capital of Babylonia, the New Jerusalem will be the capital of the new earth.
Chapter 19 revealed the wedding of the Lamb (the marriage of Jesus and his Church).
Invitations will be given to the marriage supper here on earth when Jesus comes back.
The New Jerusalem will be the bride’s new home after the Millennium. It will be a real city with physical attributes, but it will also be like a bride in that it will be pure and radiant.
12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.
I will continue this next week, in the meantime, in John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
If you’d would like to receive Jesus today, please pray this prayer with all of us:
Lord I believe that Jesus is the son of God, and that He died On the cross for my sins and His resurrection from the dead gives me eternal life. I ask forgiveness of my sins, and I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
