We are finishing out our series this morning Body Armor/ the Armor of God.
In the same way someone would not go into battle without equipment or play football without a helmet and pads, Christians must put on the armor God has given us to withstand evil temptations that come our way. Over the course of six weeks, this series will explain and apply each article in the armor of God—as described by Paul in Ephesians 6:10-18.
Has we end this series we are end it with the only piece that Paul tell us to put on that is in true offensive item. This morning we will be looking at The Sword of the Spirit. Before we look at this let to a minute review of all the other pieces.
Week 1 Belt of truth- the truth Jesus is who he says his is. The is be building Block for all the rest of the arm. WIth out this piece we will not be able to run the race that God has for us.
Week 2 Breastplate of righteousness- The piece protects our vulnerable area but it more then that. it reminds us to always live up to the the Righteousness of God. It reminds us that we must live i life pure and holy. A life worth living for God.
Week 3 Shoes of the Gospel of Peace- The shoes is what Jesus has done for you and I. That he died rose on the third day. He concered death so we do not have to worry about death. We can live a life with living with Christ. These shoes prepare us to run and share what Jesus did for us.
Week 4-The Shied of Faith- What is faith? faith is putting your turst in the the unseen. You can’t genuinely follow God without putting your trust in him and his promises
Week 5- The Helmet of Salvation. We are all sinner because of thi God can not look upon us. You might think you are unloved. You see God loved you so much that he sent his one and only for you. Jesus died on the cross for you. So you did not have to face death because of your sin.
Before we look at the Sword of the Spirit and how we can use it. I have a question for you. So think for a moment.

Have you ever wielded a sword?

If you have you know that some are very heavy. Others are light and easy to move around.
There are a lot of different types of sword. take a look at this picture.

This are just some of the sword that have been used over time. You know sword aren’t just hard to wielded. They also can be hard to make. Have you every seen the TV show Forged in Fire. On this show they have blacksmith make all kinds of swords. Some times this swords felled. Some not. There is a lot that goes into make one. The right metal, the right temp of the fire, the right amount of edge for sharpness. So what does this have to do with the Sword of the Spirit.
Ephesians 6:17 CSB
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit—which is the word of God.

The sword of the Spirit equals the word of God

The are the one and the same. The word of God. Nikki and I were watching a movie last night with the girls and in this movie the actor said a line that stuck with me. God only wrote one book but it was a best seller. SO what is the word of God? How can we use it? Why should we use it?
Hebrews 4:12 CSB
12 For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
The word of God is not hard to wield around. It not hard to forge. All of that has been done.

The word of God is living

The word of God is sharp

The word of God penetrates

The word of God judges

So you know what the word of God is now. Now you might be wondering How can I use it? Why should I use it? When should I use it?

You can read it

Faithlife the bible app

You can study it

You can pray about what you read

You can share it with others

You can read it daily

Making the Word of God a part of our daily routine will cut away the aspects of our lives that keep us from becoming more like Christ.
I will be straight up and honest with you. In cause you need know I do not like reading. And its a struggle for me to read it daily. Does that mean don’t read it. no but I do not read it a must has i should.

You can also memorize it

This I am not be best of remembering the exact passage most of the time but I do now where most thing are and have study them before.

We all must make the Word of God a daily part of our life
