Intro: This weekend at Centrikid Camp the theme was “Wonder, knowing the infinite God.” Campers learned the wonder of how big God is, and the wonder of how He cares for us.
Wonder- noun; a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable.
“God will blow your mind!”
Camp Key verse; Jer.
32:17
Tonight I want to take that word “wonder” and carry it too God’s overwhelming care for his creation and His unconditional love for sinners.
Text; Proverbs 19:21
1.
The Plans of Man; 21a
All people make plans [thoughts, intentions].
Plans are a way of mapping out things we hope to do or accomplish in life.
[Careers, family, vacations, home, car, college, worship].
This is called good stewardship.
Stewardship- supervision or taking care of something, organization, being responsible.
But the plans of man often change due to feelings, desires and circumstances.
We see this in the Parable of the Talents
Two men planned to honor their master while he was gone but one’s feelings got in the way and he was a poor planner and it changed his circumstances forever.
Planning is important, but planning needs to be done with God in mind.
2. Nevertheless the Lord’s Counsel Stands; 21b
Counsel- advice based on a conclusive decision or judgment.
God is of infinite goodness and justice and is not subject to changing moods and desires like men.
Although circumstances change, God will not!
His plans and purpose are like His character, always the same.
This is where I want to share with you God’s overwhelming care for his creation and His unconditional love for sinners.
Regardless of mens plans, the Lord’s counsel stood and mens plans failed.

Close;
Throughout history man has made plans based upon their feelings, desires and circumstances.
Those plans are made without the ability to see into the future or to predict any changes of circumstances, whether they be physically, economically and spiritually.
But the LORD’s counsel will stand—it is firm, established, and unchanging.
What God said through Solomon 3,000 years ago is what God says today, and it is what God will still say in another 3,000 years if the Lord tarries.
God’s counsel is true, absolute, never changing and it is effective.
It rises above all the plans and ideas of humanity.
That should blow our mind!
The Wonder of God!
