Galatians 5:17-20
· Flesh, what is it?
o At the root it is human actions. It is our nature, our propensity towards sin.
Galatians 2:20
· Dying to self, what it means.
o It is part of being born again.
o It is putting the flesh to death and allowing the spirit to live.
o It is when the spirit wins the battle.
1. Choose to die to self.
a. Matthew 16:24-25
i. Are you willing to die to self?
ii. God’s will over your own.
b. Romans 6:6
i. We KNOW we’re crucified with Him.
ii. We KNOW we have the power to resist sinning.
2. God breaks old patterns.
a. John 12:24
i. Again, we must die to self that we might live unto Christ.
b. Proverbs 17:3
i. The desire of our heart is to be refined in the furnace of God. To be purified and revived!
3. Total Reliance on God
a. II Corinthians 12:9-10
i. Wow! It speaks for itself.
b. Galatians 2:20
i. Wow!
c. John 15:16
i. Chosen by God, to bring forth fuit.
d. Judges 7:2
i. Total reliance on GOD!This should be Our Motto!
e. I Corinthians 1:29
i. “not of works lest any man should boast.”
4. Conclusion:
a. Total reliance on God. Breaking away from selfish ways, self-rule and self-reliance; dying to self and allowing God to come in, take over and break those old sinful habits and ways.
b. And so we now rely on God to show us something we have not seen or experience before.
