Satisfaction
Enoch walked with God so did Noah and Job
Abraham spoke face to face with the Lord
Jacob wrestled with the Lord and would not let him God until the Lord blessed him.
when the Israelites came to the mountain of God, and saw the lightning and the felt the shaking of the ground they were afraid and they said close enough, Moses, you talk to God and we will listen to you.
Moses on the other hand got so close to God and it was enough when he asked to see God’s glory.
It was David who was said to be after God’s own heart
How close can you be to God and be satisfied?
And this is another fine day in the Lord let us draw near to our Lord walking in His righteousness.
There is that place of Righteousness in the past which was within the Garden of God where man enjoyed perfect harmony with his creator prior to Sin.
There is the place where righteousness dwells in the future.
2 Peter 3:13 (NASB95) — 13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
There is a present location this day where righteousness dwells and that is in the soul of the believer. It is there that we can enjoy our own spiritual gardens having fellowship with our Creator.
Being brought into the royal family we meet the righteous demands of God to become His family not because of anything that any of us did outside of faith, but everything that God did on our behalf to receive us.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NASB95) — 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
You see the qualifiers for living and walking in fellowship with our creator is that we have the point of compatibility and that is God’s very own righteousness.
Titus 3:5 (NASB95) — 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
Philippians 3:9 (NASB95) — 9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,
A part of our new creature status (2 Cor 5:17) is that imputed to us is God’s very own righteousness which becomes that point of contact with God.
It is sin as it had happened in the garden that breaks the trust and harmony with God.
It is sin that now breaks our trust with the Lord which though we do not lose our salvation leaves us estranged with our Lord. outside the bounds of fellowship.
What is sin?
ἁμαρτάνω; ἁμαρτίαa, ας[1]
to act contrary to the will and law of God—‘to sin, to engage in wrongdoing, sin.’
ἁμαρτάνω: πορεύσομαι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα μου καὶ ἐρῶ αὐτῷ, Πάτερ, ἥμαρτον εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ ἐνώπιόν σου ‘I will get up and go to my father and say, Father, I have sinned against God and against you’ Lk 15:18.
ἁμαρτίαa: μηδὲ κοινώνει ἁμαρτίαις ἀλλοτρίαις ‘take no part in the sins of others’ or ‘do not join others in sinning’ 1 Tm 5:22.[2]
Hamartia is an archery term which means missing the mark. Sin does not just mean one who does something bad intrinsically, it means that one falls short of the righteousness of God.
God’s righteousness is the target. And that which does not meet Gods righteous standard falls short.
This broadens the field of sinners in the world. For it is not just adulterers, drunkards, homosexuals, immoral ect. that are clearly seen as sinners but those who seek by their own good deeds and equate it to be as good as God are also missing the mark.
Romans 14:23 (NASB95) — 23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.
1 John 5:17 (NASB95) — 17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.
And
Romans 3:23–26 (NASB95) — 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
And in every measure that we work outside the bounds of faith we are in the condition of sin, Falling short of the righteousness of God.
So, we see there is no righteousness apart from the exercise of faith.
There is no salvation and receiving the righteousness of God without faith.
There is no temporal fellowship with the Lord apart from the exercise of faith
There is no growing in the Lord without the exercise of faith
And there are no crowns no eternal rulership function for the believer in the future without the exercise of faith.
Because without faith one is in Sin and missing the mark of God’s righteousness.
Matthew 5:6 (NASB95) — 6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Hunger and thirsting after righteousness is a blessing that God bestows upon the believer. In each of us at the point of Salvation God gives us the capacity to receive and to enjoy God’s word which results in the Suring up our walk in the Lord and spiritual growth.
As we fill that capacity but the receiving application and metabolizing God’s word, God rewards us with a greater capacity to receive more. The greater the capacity that greater the hunger for the righteousness of God.
This is what we might call spiritual momentum.
Within the bounds of God’s righteousness, we come to Love the Lord more and more. And hate sin even our own short comings regardless of how small might be.
We come to obtain the same sentiment as Moses seeking a closeness with God.
Exodus 33:18–19 (NASB95) — 18 Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” 19 And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.”
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst
Blessed are they who God has given the capacity to seek after God that the heart might be filled to the capacity that God had created.
Happy so much that every trouble in life is secondary or peripheral issue. That is the believer sees his greatest need and ambition is his quest to draw nearer to God and His righteousness.
While God creates the Capacity Is there a person responsibility on our end, living in the world in receiving more from God and the subsequent filling of that capacity?
Yes. As with all of God’s grace.
Grace demands a response.
What do you do with what God gives you will determine if God extends more grace.
James 4:6–8 (NASB95) — 6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
There is classroom time taking in God’s word and there will be time of testing where one applies the word that he and she has received to the given situation.
With the right application of God’s truth opens doors to greater revelation and puts muscle on one’s faith and a greater hunger to draw even closer to God.
Satisfaction comes with contentment in life of the believer.
When our greatest need is God’s righteousness and knowing that it is met then all else becomes peripheral. That does not mean there will not be worries and concerns even heartaches in trials and tribulations. Stocism is not the Christian way of life. but through the tears brought on by hardships in this world there is contentment as Paul himself has expressed
Philippians 4:11–13 (NASB95) — 11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. 12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. 13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Yes happy are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness those who seek those who ask and those who knock and keep doing it God will fulfill their wants their need for His abundant righteousness.
And how great will the satisfaction be when in heaven every tear will be wiped away and the ones who hungered and thirsted for God’s righteousness will sit with him on his glorious throne.
