Today:   Watching, Waiting, Preparing

Matthew 24:3-8 (NKJV)

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" 4And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. 6And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Take heed that no one deceives you.

  1. If Jesus warned us of being deceived then there is a possibility that you could be deceived.

2 John 1:7 (NKJV)

For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Revelation 12:9 (NKJV)

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Revelation 13:14 (NKJV)

And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.

Revelation 19:20 (NKJV)

Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Revelation 20:3 (NKJV)

and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.

Revelation 20:8 (NKJV)

and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.

Revelation 20:10 (NKJV)

The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

  1. Deceive – to cause to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid.

The theory of evolution.

Romans 7:11 (NKJV)

For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.

1 Corinthians 6:9-12 (NIV)

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

12"Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by anything.

1 Corinthians 6:12 (NKJV)

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

  1. Sin is what conditions us to be deceived.

Matthew 24:10-14 (NKJV)

And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

People are going to be offended in this end-time message.

Because of lawlessness and deception the love of many will grow cold.

  1. Lawlessness and deception will cause the love of many to grow cold.

Listen to Jesus’ warning

Matthew 24:30-35 (NKJV)

Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32"Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near--at the doors! 34Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

May 14, 1948 Israel became a nation.  Last Thursday Israel celebrated its 61st birthday.  If the oldest person living today is 119, then we could say that theoretically that this generation will not go past the year of 2060.

Matthew 24:36-44 (NKJV)

36"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

The world is being deceived.  Listen to this video clip.

This last week I read because of certain unruly fans of soccer that they will now undergo implants to prevent them from attending soccer games.

We are being conditioned to receive the mark.

1)       evolution taught in our schools.

2)       Christians are just a bunch of radicals and are on the same level as the terrorist

3)       To prevent terrorism something must be done

4)       To prevent illegal immigration something must be done

5)       To prevent child abductions something must be done

6)       We are now accepting homosexuality as an alternative lifestyle

7)       We are now accepting sex outside of marriage as okay

8)       We are now accepting marriage of individuals of the same sex.

9)       The resurgence of body piercing and tattooing is conditioning a generation to accept the mark of the beast as no big deal.

  1. This generation is being prepared to receive the antichrist and the mark of the beast.

Luke 17:22-36 (NKJV)

Then He said to the disciples, "The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23And they will say to you, 'Look here!' or 'Look there!' Do not go after them or follow them. 24For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day. 25But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. 26And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. 31In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. 32Remember Lot's wife. 33Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. 35Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. 36Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left."

Matthew 24:45-47

45“Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods.

Romans 2:13 (NKJV)

James 1:21-25 (NKJV)

Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

We are living in perilous times.  We are living in unprecedented times.  Where sin is acceptable and righteousness is spurned.  A new morality is in the air, though its not moral nor new.  It is out of the same garbage heap where from all sin has migrated.  The very pit of hell.

Isaiah 5:20-25 (NKJV)

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!

22Woe to men mighty at drinking wine, Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink,  23Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man!

24Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust; Because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts, And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

25Therefore the anger of the Lord is aroused against His people; He has stretched out His hand against them  And stricken them, And the hills trembled. Their carcasses were as refuse in the midst of the streets.

For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand is stretched out still.

And we are witnesses of it!  We are spectators and participants of the greatest time in all of history, when Jesus will reveal Himself to all the world.

America is at the crossroads, We are at the crossroads.

Proverbs 29:1 (NKJV)

He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

The cry of the new morality is the cry heard in the garden of Eden at the very conception and birth of man’s sin.

Genesis 3:1 (NKJV)

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"

Genesis 3:1 (NIV)

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"

We are living in a day when people are asking that question “Did God really say?”

J . Lee Grady’s article “Defying Oprah’s False Gospel”

The issue that we face in our faith of God is whether we accept our sinful condition and simply give in to its destructive tendancies.  The problem with voices like Oprah and the majority of the mainstream is: we are not responsible and should not be judged because sin does not exist.

But I still believe in the old rugged cross, I still believe that Jesus loves me and died to take away my sin and I still believe in God’s amazing grace that has the power to transfer people into a new creation no matter what the sin that has plagued their life.

“Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost but now am found, was blind, but now I see.”

Romans 6:11-14 (NKJV)

Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Romans 2:2-6 (NKJV)

But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 5But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6who "will render to each one according to his deeds":

Psalm 95:6-8 (NKJV)

Oh come, let us worship and bow down;

Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

7For He is our God,

And we are the people of His pasture,

And the sheep of His hand.

Today, if you will hear His voice:

8"Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion,

As in the day of trial in the wilderness,

Matthew 24:46-51 (NKJV)

Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,' 49and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Luke 12:42-48 (NKJV)

And the Lord said, "Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? 43Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 44Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has. 45But if that servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,' and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, 46the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 47And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

2 Corinthians 5:6-10 (NKJV)

So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

9Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Hebrews 3:7-15 (NKJV)

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:

"Today, if you will hear His voice,

8Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,

In the day of trial in the wilderness,

9Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,

And saw My works forty years.

10Therefore I was angry with that generation,

And said, 'They always go astray in their heart,

And they have not known My ways.'

11So I swore in My wrath,

'They shall not enter My rest.' "

12Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15while it is said:

"Today, if you will hear His voice,

Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."

2 Peter 3:3-11 (NKJV)

knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." 5For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
