What kind of worship does the Lord desire from us? Can we give Him only a half-hearted attempt or will He ask for all of who we are? We take a deeper look into what our worship to the Lord should look like.

Anesthetized Worship
In our modern time we use immunizations to prevent a greater prevalence of disease.
We receive a shot of a dead virus that our bodies develop a tolerance for, over time our bodies will defend itself against that disease.
What happens when we try that with our worship as we seek the Lord’s presence? What happens when we only get a small dose?
When we give our lives to Christ we are on fire… we cant think of anything better than to spend our days in His presence, over time we begin to become callous to His presence… Going from church service to church service only getting just enough until we learn how to tune out and defend against His presence.
We build up immunities not for the presence of God but against it. We begin to lay down restrictions on how and when we can worship and even attempt to control the intensity of His presence.
2 Samuel 6:12–15 ESV
And it was told King David, “The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David with rejoicing. And when those who bore the ark of the Lord had gone six steps, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened animal. And David danced before the Lord with all his might. And David was wearing a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the horn.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is power, freedom, divinity moves
David had to learn how to carry the presence
David gave the Lord all of himself in worship
Carar- spinning violently, dancing rhythmically,
some of us have done this in other settings, Club nights, sporting events, but we are afraid to do this before God
we know the latest tik tok dance and the latest songs, we dont know how to dance before the Lord or the words to His songs
Unbound worship not restricted by social, cultural, standards
Went against the social norm
David didn’t go alone, He went with his whole house
devoted everything at his disposal to the worship of the Lord.

We must move from anesthetized worship to unbound worship if we want to be in His presence.

The Practice of Worship Through Life

Reading the Psalms We Know David not only learned how to worship in every situation, he put into practice the what, the who, the why, and how to worship
Moving from anesthetized worship to an unbound worship we see a David who worshipped even when it hurt. He did not just live for the one day a week experience… He lived for worship, He lived for His presence
Heroes of faith put to work what they have learned… turning to a lesser known worshipper

Forsaking The Nay Sayers

For David it was not caring what his wife would think but looking at another hero of faith
Mark 5:24–29 ESV
And he went with him. And a great crowd followed him and thronged about him. And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse. She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.” And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.
Crowded and surrounded, limited access (fake belief)
The woman had suffered on her own for 12 years
Spent her entire earnings on Doctors
some will spend all they have trying to receive what only God can give
Received bad reports and believed the reports
they only made it worse
She was considered unclean and could not come to the temple or the religious elders- NO BODY WANTED HER
She Heard of Him but would not relent until she knew even the slightest bit of Him for herself
against societal, and cultural norms
against the amount of people
SHE COMMITTED TO NOTHING STOPPING HER
v.30-34 The Lord asks who touched as He felt power leave from Him…
how many touched Him yet were not there to know Him or worship Him
This woman postured Herself to worship HIm that her life would be a testimony to all that would see her.
Remember to Carar give Him your everything in an act of unbound worship… Dont worry about what others have to say, “You sing to loud”, “You dance too much”, “Your banners bother me”, “You shouldn’t fall out”, “You shouldn’t shout for joy”

Congregational Duty of Unbound Worship

John 11:43–44 ESV
When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
Jesus does the work of resurrecting us back to life as He Did with Lazarus.
He turned to the people who had contended for the miracles and asks them to unbind the once dead Lazarus
New believers have been brought into new life but do not yet know how to worship
Congregation must not lay on additional burdens but must unbind them.
Symbology in the binding
Hands- when we arrive with legal, social, and moral obligations that we must be set free from
we cannnot operate in the power and authority much less receive from the Lord when our hands are bound
There is no freedom
Feet- direction… Paul put on the sandals of the Gospel, Psalmist your word is a lamp to my feet.
where are our feet leading? to the old ways that once bound them or to the places where the Gospel will lead us.
Cover on the face- Moses had to cover the face as his face was glowing because of the Glory of God, Imagine Lazarus who was had been brought back to life…
Don’t cover what the Lord is doing
Unbound worship is the work of the participant as much as it is the work of the congregation.
The worshipper needs to contend against the opposition, be like the bleeding woman in each moment contending to even get a glimpse of His glory
The congregation needs to walk along side young worshippers not discouraging them but removing the things that once held them restrained
together they are submerged in the fullness of worship before the Lord not ashamed but with everything they have giving as it is stated in Samuel with shouts of praise, and the sound of instruments...
Lets move from the anesthetized worship, lets advance into an unbound worship that gives Him all that we are and all that we have.
