When have you experienced vitality?
Interesting word, vitality.
I think of other words: vivaciousness, energized, passionate and thriving.
Some times all we can do is survive.
This is a legitimate goal depending on the season one may find themselves in.
In fact, our Psalm has talked over and over, how he is trying to survive.
In our passage this morning we see this in verses 81-88.
In survival mode, we fight to exist.
We fight to just exist.
We fight to have our “rights” heard.
We fight to make sure we keep our space.
We really just fight.
God created us more than for survival!
We were meant to do more than just exist.
When we get caught up in trying to survive in this world we forget this tremendous truth.
As we read in this Psalm, especially vs 73, 77.
You were created for a purpose!
All of creation has a purpose, including you.
But where do you find this purpose?
God & His Word are eternal.
This means God has no beginning nor end and is self-sufficient.
Scripture is self-sufficient meaning we do not need to affirm it for it to be true.
God is god even if no one would ever believe Him to be.
God & His Word sustains us.
If we want to turn the corner from just existing and in survival mode we must read and experience God and His Word.
We have hope in Christ.
This becomes what gets us through each week.
This is what got the Psalmist through, the hope which comes from the Creator, Sustainer and Eternal God.
Christ is not done with transformation yet.
We are not finished yet.
There is coming a day, and maybe/hopefully it is today when He comes back.
But even then until the fulfillment of Revelation 21 when God says, “I am making everything new” is Christ done transforming you, me, this world from existence to purpose.
